This article compares the tribological performance of coatings produced by PVD sputtering. Transition metal dichalcogenide (TMD) doped with carbon (WSC and MoSeC) nitrogen (WSN MoSeN) a conventional diamond-like (DLC) coating are compared. The evaluation was oriented towards use on piston rings. Block-on-ring tests in condition lubricated an additive-free polyalphaolefin (PAO 8) at temperatures 30, 60, 100 °C were carried out to evaluate boundary lubrication conditions. A load scanner test used dry friction scuffing propensity. In addition WSN, all other TMD (WSC, MoSeC, exhibited lower than DLC study reveals that WSC, among coatings, offers promising results, significantly levels DLC, while demonstrating reduced wear risk adhesion. These findings suggest WSC may be viable alternative rings, potential benefits for reducing fuel consumption increasing engine durability.

The hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) in the renewable energy system has gained a lot of attention from researchers as is assumed to be clean and carrier. Transition metals their compounds have been used promising alternatives precious noble for HER, offering low cost, more availability, high activity. In this work, we discussed mechanisms HER how morphology influenced catalytic performance transition metal disulfide (TMD), focusing on structures that range zero-dimensional (0D) three-dimensional (3D) TMD materials. Notably, two-dimensional (2D) TMDs, like nanosheets, exhibit lowest overpotential very small Tafel slope, which can ascribed inherent layered structure large surface area.
