Alzheimer's
disease
currently
has
no
cure
and
is
usually
detected
too
late
for
interventions
to
be
effective.
In
this
study
we
have
focused
on
cognitively
normal
subjects
the
impact
of
risk
factors
their
long-range
brain
connections.
To
detect
vulnerable
connections,
devised
a
multiscale,
hierarchical
method
spatial
clustering
whole
tractogram
examined
age
APOE
allelic
variation
cognitive
abilities
bundle
properties
including
texture
e.g.,
mean
fractional
anisotropy,
variability,
geometric
streamline
length,
volume,
shape,
as
well
asymmetry.
We
found
that
third
level
subdivision
in
hierarchy
provided
most
sensitive
ability
genotype
differences
associated
with
factors.
Our
results
indicate
frontal
bundles
were
major
predictor,
while
occipital
cortex
cerebellar
connections
important
predictors
heavily
dependent,
showed
accelerated
decline
shape
similarity,
increased
Cognitive
metrics
related
olfactory
memory
mapped
bundles,
providing
possible
early
markers
neurodegeneration.

blood
pressure
changes
white
matter
tracts.
