The evaluation of the environmental impacts a living wall (LW) system cannot leave out effects on buildings’ sustainability during its life cycle. Consequently, to consider embodied all components, an LCA whole is recommended. Therefore, this paper was targeted evaluate performances four LW solutions considering combination energy and LCA. In first step, yearly consumption reference building equipped with LWs determined through simulations carried in EnergyPlus environment. Subsequently, completed impact different configurations. To quantify related implementation LWs, results were compared those obtained for without vegetation. analyses refer real university’s four-floor housing located city Reggio Calabria (38°07′21.4″ N 15°39′45.2″ E), which currently under construction. confirm benefits achievable integration, measuring both savings increase hours indoor temperature within well-being zone. At annual level, best solution produces 24% saving highlights limitation 2.1 × 105 kg CO2eq when case. These data effectiveness implementing as reliable intervention enhance impact, especially edifices requiring renovation.

This perspective examines renaturing cities, the strategic reintroduction of nature, as a potential solution to negative health impacts rapid urbanisation. By utilising nature-based solutions maximise ecosystem services and reintegrate human natural systems, offers access high-quality, accessible green spaces. Studies suggest such is associated with reduced depression, high blood pressure, cardiovascular disease risk. Renaturing also presents opportunities for physical activity daily exposure which can further enhance well-being happiness. However, challenges include ensuring equitable these spaces avoiding gentrification. To achieve this distribution ensure project truly benefits community, bottom-up approach involving residents in planning process crucial. Longitudinal studies evidence from design projects are necessary understand types most effectively improve wellbeing happiness disadvantaged groups. Further research needed better refine concept, it sometimes used interchangeably other similar but distinct approaches.

Global environmental and health issues such as climate change the COVID-19 pandemic have highlighted weaknesses of current urban systems, including poor availability accessibility green public spaces in cities. Nature-based Solutions are configured promising solutions to increase resilience built environment by addressing issues, promoting psycho-physical well-being users proposing for protection ecosystems. Following a systematic review scientific literature using PRISMA methodology, this study aims provide taxonomic framework that is applicable building scales, highlighting key benefits challenges achieving resilience.
