We tried to replicate the finding that receiving care increases children's oxytocin and secure state attachment levels, tested whether trait moderates response care. 109 children (9-11 years old; M = 9.59; SD 0.63; 34.9% boys) participated in a within-subject experiment. After stress induction (Trier Social Stress Test), first remained alone then received maternal base support. Salivary was measured eight times. Secure were with questionnaires, Base Script knowledge assessed. Oxytocin levels increased after support from mother having been alone. changed less. Trait did not moderate or responses This might mean that, regardless of history, in-the-moment positive experiences have beneficial effect on development middle childhood.

Learning safe versus dangerous cues is crucial for survival. During development, parents can influence fear learning by buffering their children's stress response and increasing exploration of potentially aversive stimuli. Rodent findings suggest that these behavioral effects are mediated through parental presence modulation the amygdala medial prefrontal cortex (mPFC). Here, we investigated whether similar mPFC during occurs in humans. Using a within-subjects design, (final N = 48, 6-17 years, mean 11.61, SD 2.84, 60% females/40% males) neuroimaging data 39, 12.03, 2.98, 59% females/41% were acquired classical conditioning task, which included CS+ followed an noise (US; 75% reinforcement rate) CS-. Conditioning occurred once physical contact with participant's parent alone (order counterbalanced). Region interest analyses examined unconditioned BOLD activation to US (vs. implicit baseline) CS-). Results showed presentation, reduced centromedial activity, suggesting response. In learned stimuli, activity (relative CS-), although this result did not survive multiple comparisons' correction. These preliminary indicate modulate exposure conditioned providing insight into neural mechanisms act as social buffer learning. RESEARCH HIGHLIGHTS: This study used within-participant experimental design investigate how absence) affects youth's responses task. Attachment is one of the foundational themes in history psychological development human beings. For this reason, we assume that it must be approached by taking into account multiple scientific perspectives. The present review aims at analyzing state art regarding genetic, neurobiological and cognitive mechanisms underlying attachment bonding, considering child as frame reference. We hypothesize may prototypical forms even prenatal period, thus our analysis has a temporal origin intrauterine period preceding birth. assumed to maximum sensitivity stimuli particular those coming from potential primary caregiver: biological mother. conclude with reframing propose future research work would benefit superordinate model attachment, capable containing regulating all its components variables.

Attachment is a motivational system promoting felt security to caregiver resulting in persistent internal working model of interpersonal behavior. styles are developed early social environments and predict future health development outcomes with potential biological signatures, such as epigenetic modifications like DNA methylation (DNAm). Thus, we hypothesized infant DNAm would associate toddler attachment styles. An epigenome-wide association study (EWAS) blood from 3-month-old infants was regressed onto children's style the Strange Situation Procedure at 22-months multiple Cytosine-phosphate-Guanine (CpG) sites. The 26 identified CpGs associated proinflammatory immune phenotypes cognitive development. In post-hoc analyses, only maternal cognitive-growth fostering, encouraging intellectual exploration, contributed. For disorganized children, DNAm-derived cell-type proportions estimated higher monocytes -cells responses increase adversity. Collectively, these findings suggested embedding both adverse advantageous 3-months-old.

People's attachment orientation contributes to their emotional experiences. However, the associations between and emotion dynamic features have remained unclear. In this preregistered study, we tested of with baseline level, variability, inertia, differentiation emotions using two ecological momentary assessment adult samples (N=122; N=127). Attachment anxiety predicted a higher level negative in both lower positive one sample. avoidance samples. After covarying no were detected differentiation. Our findings suggest that is associated rather than other features.
