Abstract Humans tend to align their behaviors and beliefs with group peers. Establishing alignment between members is crucial for unity, yet the mechanisms underlying its emergence are under-explored. Here we examined extent which brains of synchronize during deliberation on moral issues, how interbrain synchrony supports in beliefs. We scanned 200 participants, who were divided into groups four, using functional Near-Infrared Spectroscopy (fNIRS) discussions dilemmas. Behavioral results show that following deliberations, aligned by adjusting private towards collective sentiment. Critically, neuroimaging reveal increased left inferior frontal gyrus (IFG) predicts degree post-deliberation. These findings indicate human tendency extends regions related mirroring semantic sequence processing work across coordination, promote shared

Abstract Much of a child’s early learning takes place during social interactions with others. Neural synchrony, the temporal alignment individuals’ functional brain activity, is neural mechanism that may support successful interaction, but its biological origins and sensitivity to environmental factors remain unknown. This study measures coherence between 4- 6-year-old children their mothers using wearable near-infrared spectroscopy (“fNIRS”) in collaborative problem-solving hyperscanning paradigm. Best practices fNIRS data processing are incorporated optimise quantification extricate environmental- task-related effects. Results suggest physiological noise extracerebral layer artificially inflated strength both oxygenated (“HbO2”) deoxygenated (“HbR”) haemoglobin. Coherence remained stronger than individual problem solving chromophores after reduction. Phase-scrambled pseudodyad analyses supported interpretation collaboration relates dynamics interaction rather task- or environmental-related components. Strength HbO2 was positively related task performance negatively background maternal stress. HbR also stress direction results were mixed. Overall, this provides new insight into nature play.

Social interactions are a ubiquitous part of human life. They also complex and dynamic, posing challenge for traditional psychology methods. This article provides an overview dynamic systems approach to the study social that manages this complexity enables quantification interdependence between people. We discuss key empirical findings demonstrate how different forms interaction dynamics shape outcomes. Last, we highlight utility advancing theories behavior practical application. By adopting approach, researchers can gain deeper understanding patterns underlying test hypotheses about mechanisms driving connection coordination.

Rising global levels of dementia including Alzheimer’s disease call for the treatment both cognitive and psychosocial deficits this population. While there is no cure dementia, progression can be slowed, symptoms eased. The positive effects exercise dance have been documented as has interpersonal synchrony. Dance/movement therapy uses kinesthetic empathy, attunement, mirroring to communicate, synchronize, connect with clients, salient a population that often struggles loneliness isolation. Here I offer perspective on how dance/movement promotes social functions neural underpinning synchrony, possibly providing neuroprotection

It is a central tenet of attachment theory that individual differences in representations organize behavior during social interactions. Secure also facilitate behavioral synchrony, key component adaptive parent-child Yet, the dynamic neural processes underlying these interactions and potential role remain largely unknown. A growing body research indicates interpersonal synchrony (INS) could be neurobiological correlate high interaction relationship quality. In this study, we examined whether are associated with parent child representations. total, 140 parents (74 mothers 66 fathers) their children (age 5-6 years; 60 girls 80 boys) engaged cooperative versus problem-solving. INS frontal temporal regions was assessed functional near-infrared spectroscopy hyperscanning. Attachment were ascertained by means Adult Interview story-completion task children, alongside video-coded synchrony. Findings revealed increased problem solving across all dyads (𝛸2(2)=9.37, p=.009). Remarkably, but not (p>.159) cooperation. More specifically, insecure maternal related to higher mother-child (𝛸2(3)=9.18, p=.027). Conversely, secure daughter daughter-parent within (𝛸2(3)=12.58, p=.006). Our data thus provide further indication for as promising probe underpinnings context early

Abstract Communication, especially conversation, is essential for human social life. Many previous studies have examined the neuroscientific underpinnings of i.e. language comprehension and speech production. However, conversation inherently involves two or more people, unless people actually interact with one another, nature cannot be truly revealed. Therefore, in this study, we used magnetoencephalographs that were connected together, simultaneously recorded brain activity while took turns speaking a word association/alphabet completion task. We compared amplitude modulation alpha- beta-band rhythms within each 62 regions under semantic (word association; less predictable) non-semantic (alphabet completion; conditions. found amplitudes significantly different between conditions wide range regions. Additionally, significant differences observed nearly same group after versus before utterance, indicating areas involved predicting partner’s next utterance. This result supports idea mentalizing, e.g. another person's speech, plays an important role suggests neural network implicated mentalizing extends over

Correlating transcriptional profiles with imaging-derived phenotypes has the potential to reveal possible molecular architectures associated cognitive functions, brain development and disorders. Competitive null models built by resampling genes self-contained spinning regions, along varying test statistics, have been used determine significance of associations. However, there no systematic evaluation their performance in imaging transcriptomics analyses. Here, we evaluated eight different statistics (mean, mean absolute value, squared max mean, median, Kolmogorov-Smirnov (KS), Weighted KS number significant correlations) both competitive models. Simulated maps (n=1,000) gene sets (n=500) were calculate probability (Psig) for each statistical test. Our results suggested that may result false positive driven co-expression within sets. Furthermore, demonstrated fail account distribution characteristics (e.g., bimodality) correlations between all available phenotypes, leading positives. These two confounding factors interacted differently resulting outcomes. Specifically, sign-sensitive (i.e., KS, KS) influenced bias models, while median sign-insensitive sensitive bimodality Additionally, KS-based produced conservative which increased risk negatives. Comprehensive supplementary analyses various configurations, including realistic scenarios, supported results. findings suggest utilizing such as statistic adopting confounder-matched coexpression-matched) an alternative standard can be a viable strategy. Overall, present study offers insights into selection tests studies, highlighting areas further investigation refinement novel commonly tests.

Conduct disorder (CD) is among the most prevalent and burdensome disorders in early adolescence. Over past decade, there has been growing interest identifying reliable localized neurobiological markers of conduct (CD). However, recent meta-analyses have highlighted weak reliability these so-called markers, thereby limiting ability to draw firm conclusions. Using normative network mapping (598 healthy subjects), we rather sought investigate whether heterogeneous findings across studies may map unto a common brain network. A meta-analysis 38 fMRI involving adolescents with CD (932 cases, 975 controls) was first conducted showed only very spatial convergence activity alterations anterior temporal lobe (5 out studies). In turn, revealed that show consistent connectivity pattern whole brain, regional overlap reaching up 94.7% (36 This primarily driven by functional brainstem nuclei, subcortical structures (i.e., thalamus, ventral striatum), cingulate cortex posterior midcingulate), superior sulcus, visual cortices. We further describe neurochemicals genetic this CD-Network emphasis on midbrain serotoninergic, dopaminergic cholinergic projections. Our suggest our understanding could be enhanced viewing as complex interconnected system than reducing its complexity limited number structures. More importantly, serve evidence various theories can reconciled seen conflicting.
