Abstract Music chills are pleasurable experiences while listening to music, often accompanied by physical responses, such as goosebumps 1,2 . Enjoying music that induces is central appreciation, and engages the reward system in brain 3–5 However, specific songs trigger vary with individual preferences 6 , neural substrates associated musical rewards differ among individuals 7–9 making it challenging establish a standard method for enhancing chills. In this study, we developed Chill Brain-Music Interface (C-BMI), closed-loop neurofeedback uses in-ear electroencephalogram (EEG) song selection. The C-BMI generates personalized playlists aimed at evoking integrating activity related processing. Twenty-four participants listened both self-selected other-selected songs, reporting higher pleasure levels experiencing more their songs. We constructed two LASSO regression models support C-BMI. Why do humans spontaneously dance to music? To test the hypothesis that motor dynamics reflect predictive timing during music listening, we created melodies with varying degrees of rhythmic predictability (syncopation) and asked participants rate their wanting-to-move (groove) experience. Degree syncopation groove ratings are quadratically correlated. Magnetoencephalography data showed that, while auditory regions track rhythm melodies, beat-related 2-hertz activity neural at delta (1.4 hertz) beta (20 30 rates in dorsal pathway code for experience groove. Critically, left sensorimotor cortex coordinates these groove-related activities. These findings align predictions a neurodynamic model, suggesting oscillatory engagement listening reflects is effected by interaction along pathway.

To examine the effect of synchronous dance movements on social bonding and perceived closeness between generations, 168 young (20–45 years) older (65–90 participants were randomly assigned to six dyad conditions. These included dancing synchronously or asynchronously with an in-age-group out-age-group unfamiliar partner for 11 min. The then completed group questionnaires. assess variation across individuals’ dyads’ measurements, a generalized estimating equation modeling analysis was conducted. In line hypotheses, synchronized increased bonding, adults showed enhanced perception generations. hypothesis that members would foster greater compared not confirmed. Surprisingly, results indicated asynchronous led higher degree generations than out-age-group. Avenues future studies mechanisms by which intergenerational fosters are discussed.

Groove, a complex aspect of music perception, plays crucial role in eliciting emotional and physical responses from listeners. However, accurately quantifying predicting groove remains challenging due to its intricate acoustic features. To address this, we propose novel framework for rating that integrates Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) with Temporal (TCNs), enhanced by entropy regularization entropy-pooling techniques. Our approach processes audio files into Mel-spectrograms, which are analyzed CNN feature extraction TCN capture long-range temporal dependencies, enabling precise groove-level prediction. Experimental results show our CNN–TCN significantly outperforms benchmark methods predictive accuracy. The integration pooling is critical, their omission leading notable reductions R2 values. method also surpasses the performance other machine-learning models, including long short-term memory (LSTM) networks support vector machine (SVM) variants. This study establishes strong foundation automated assessment musical groove, potential applications education, therapy, composition. Future research will focus on expanding dataset, enhancing model generalization, exploring additional techniques further elucidate factors influencing perception.

Moving together or attending festivals has been reported to foster social bonding. However, whether with and without dancing affect individuals’ bonds sense of community remains unclear. The existing research does not demonstrate lasting effects exist over time, even when are held only a limited number times year. To address this issue, study examines the impact at local on community. This hypothesized that if others enhances bonding, participation in may enhance since is part many festivals. Accordingly, an online survey was conducted few months after festival, participants responded three scales: Brief Sense Community Scale, Consciousness UCLA Loneliness Scale. results found (1) who attended danced festival showed higher lower loneliness level than those did dance dancing. (2) Previous attendance habits influence these tendencies. (3) Furthermore, tendencies were related individual’s willingness attend Therefore, promote greater dance.

Introduction Approximately 27.5% of adults worldwide fail to meet the recommended 150 min per week moderate-to-vigorous physical activity. Music is a powerful tool that enhances positive affective responses and exercise adherence. However, little known regarding which types music are most effective in enhancing these benefits. Groove, induces sensation “wanting move music” associated with responses, may help make self-paced more active pleasant. Therefore, this study, we examined effects high-groove (HG) on mood responses. Methods Thirty-eight university students (18 males) participated randomized crossover study under two experimental conditions. The participants ran treadmill for 10 at self-selected comfortable speed while listening HG low-groove (LG) playlists. Results playlist received higher groove ratings than LG playlist. Self-selected running (vitality arousal) were greater condition only women. Exercise intensity measured using heart rate perceived exertion was comparable between positively correlated (HG-LG) vitality changes (post-pre). Conclusion These results suggest promotes response adherence, particularly female students. Moreover, observed sex difference suggests individual differences perception also influence behavior. Focusing groove, musical characteristic distinct from tempo volume, our provides comprehensive understanding compatible exercise, examining potential its findings contribute health promotion by encouraging living via exercise.

Substance use disorders disrupt the dopaminergic system of human brain, which plays a central role in movement and reward processing, altering perception, cognition. The pleasurable urge to move music, known as groove, relies on dopamine for reward, anticipation, beat motor activity. Using well-established paradigm, shows an inverted-U relationship between groove musical complexity, we investigated how downregulation from long-term cocaine heroin affects experience music. Drug users experienced stronger with high rhythmic harmonic complexities than nonusers, while moderate elicited similar responses across groups. This pattern differs other populations altered function, such Parkinson’s disease or anhedonia, highlighting distinct effect drug addiction music perception. findings suggest that seek more intense complex stimulation, supporting hypothesis hypodopaminergic state associated raises threshold nondrug stimuli engage system.
