Abstract Tourette syndrome (TS) has been associated with a rich set of symptoms that are said to be uncomfortable, unwilled, and effortful manage. Furthermore, tics, the canonical characteristic TS, multifaceted, their onset maintenance is complex. A formal account integrates these features TS symptomatology within plausible theoretical framework currently absent from field. In this paper, we assess explanatory power hierarchical generative modelling in accounting for perspective active inference. We propose fourfold analysis sensory, motor, cognitive phenomena TS. The human capacity to plan and perform long, complex sequences of behavior achieve distant goals depends in part on a hierarchical organization that divides into structured segments. Such mechanism requires the internal designation certain states as subgoals mark successful implementation behavioral segment.
