Many everyday empathetic experiences arise within our social interactions and depend significantly on interpersonal closeness. However, the interbrain processes underlying social-oriented empathy by closeness remain unclear. To address this gap, we conducted a dyadic judgement task with dyads of friends strangers, where targets received evaluative feedback empathizers observed scenario in different experimental trials. Results showed that exhibited greater affect sharing than strangers when witnessing their partners being accepted or rejected. This was supported more pronounced event-related potential similarity during 340-840 ms post-feedback window, mediating link between sharing. Furthermore, emotional elicited neural synchronization brain α-oscillation empathizer's left prefrontal cortex target's temporoparietal junction compared those strangers. empathy-related associated mutual but not Our findings highlight sensitivity to closeness, which links sustained attention detailed evaluation scenarios, along functional communication regions for mentalizing regulation. These insights have therapeutic improving functioning relationship satisfaction.

Biobehavioral synchrony, the coordination of physiological and behavioral signals between mother infant during social contact, tunes child's brain to world. Probing this mechanism from a two-brain perspective, we examine associations patterns mother-infant inter-brain synchrony two well-studied maternal orientations-sensitivity intrusiveness-which have repeatedly been shown predict positive negative socio-emotional outcomes, respectively. Using dual-electroencephalogram (EEG) recordings, measure connectivity 60 mothers their 5- 12-month-old infants face-to-face interaction. Thirty connections show significantly higher correlations real interaction compared surrogate data. Brain-behavior indicate that sensitivity linked with greater neural whereas intrusiveness is associated lower coordination. Post hoc analysis reveals mother-right-frontal-infant-left-temporal connection particularly sensitive mother's style, while mother-left-frontal-infant-right-temporal indexes intrusive style. Our results support perspective by which mature brains externally regulate immature living suggest one pathway exert long-term effect may relate provision coordinated inputs its period maturation.

Abstract Texting has become one of the most prevalent ways to interact socially, particularly among youth; however, effects text messaging on social brain functioning are unknown. Guided by biobehavioral synchrony frame, this pre-registered study utilized hyperscanning EEG evaluate interbrain during face-to-face versus texting interactions. Participants included 65 mother-adolescent dyads observed conversation compared from different rooms. Results indicate that both and communication elicit significant neural surrogate data, demonstrating for first time brain-to-brain texting. Direct comparison between two interactions highlighted 8 fronto-temporal links were significantly stronger in interaction Our findings suggest partners co-create a network inter-brain connections live exchanges. The degree improvement partners' right-frontal-right-frontal connectivity correlated with greater behavioral synchrony, suggesting well-researched connection may be specific communication. while technology-based allows humans synchronize afar, remain superior mode interpersonal connection. We conclude discussing potential benefits drawbacks pervasive use texting, youth.

Empathy is a complex and multifaceted phenomenon that plays crucial role in human social interactions. Recent developments neuroscience have provided valuable insights into the neural underpinnings bodily mechanisms underlying empathy. This methodology often prioritizes precision, replicability, internal validity, confound control. However, fully understanding complexity of empathy seems unattainable by solely relying on artificial controlled laboratory settings, while overlooking comprehensive view through an ecological experimental approach. In this article, we propose articulating integrative theoretical methodological framework based 5E approach (the "E"s stand for embodied, embedded, enacted, emotional, extended perspectives empathy), highlighting relevance studying as active interaction between embodied agents, embedded shared real-world environment. addition, illustrate how novel multimodal including mobile brain body imaging (MoBi) combined with phenomenological methods, implementation interactive paradigms natural context, are adequate procedures to study from doing so, present Empirical (E5E) scientific bridge brain/body attributes interbody setting. The strategies for social interaction between strangers differ from those acquaintances, whereas the differences in neural basis of have not been fully elucidated. In this study, we examined geometrical properties interpersonal networks pairs and acquaintances during antiphase joint tapping. Dual electroencephalogram (EEG) 29 channels per participant was measured 14 13 acquaintance pairs.Intra-brain synchronizations were calculated using weighted phase lag index (wPLI) intra-brain electrode combinations, inter-brain locking value (PLV) combinations theta, alpha, beta frequency bands. For each pair, with larger wPLI/PLV than their surrogates defined as edges networks. We global efficiency, local modularity derived graph theory combined intra- pair. theta band networks, stranger showed efficiency pairs, indicating that two brains more densely connected. Parent-adolescent emotion transmission is crucial for adolescents' psychological development. Parental negative emotions could impair parent-adolescent interaction and relationships. Brief mindfulness practices (BMPs) are effective improving emotional regulation reducing emotions. However, few studies explored the effects of BMP on transmission. This study used hyperscanning technique to examine differences in change states, cooperative performance, interbrain synchrony (IBS) between group (20 dyads) control rest (CR) under induced parental cooperation tasks. Results showed (1) decreases emotions, hostility, state anxiety after BMP, but only decreased CR rest; (2) an increase success rate no (3) IBS delta theta bands feedback increases failure rest. These findings suggest that may mitigate adolescents promote their focused attitude toward cooperation.

Young children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) traits frequently encounter difficulties in peer interaction. Assessing interaction performance is crucial but challenging within the clinical diagnostic paradigm of ASD. Hyperscanning, which simultaneously monitors brain activity multiple individuals, has become a popular tool for assessing social interaction's neural features. The present study aims to investigate brain-to-brain connectivity between child-dyads engaged game-like collaborative task via hyperscanning electroencephalogram (EEG) approach. final sample comprised 66 young children: 18 child dyads typical development (TD), TD-TD, and 15 ASD matched TD, TD-ASD. indicated depressed level dyad group as responder, notable decrease observed beta oscillation over right parietal left temporal coupling subjects.
