Local scour induced by strong currents has become one of the major challenges for sea-crossing bridges built convenience transportation across bays. To mitigate local bridge foundation, this study optimized design and geometry upper part skirted caisson proposed a new type foundation called with two tandem piers (SCTTP). Systematic experimental numerical investigations into influence parameters SCTTPs on protection were conducted, temporal development mechanism in investigated. The following conclusions can be drawn: (1) although SCTTP is slightly greater than that caisson, terrain more stable; (2) circular small, flat surfaces semicircular-ended square intensify scour; (3) at front back gradually becomes independent distance between piers, causing total to increase; (4) as width tie beam decreases, groove significant no groove, but depth little effect maximum groove. These findings provide insight optimization from scour.
