Although many countries have formally committed to Ecosystem-Based Fisheries Management (EBFM), actual progress toward these goals has been slow. This paper presents two independent case studies that combined strategic advice from ecosystem modeling with the tactical of single-species assessment models provide practical ecosystem-based management advice. With this approach, stock status, reference points, and initial target F are computed a model, then an model rescales according indicators without crossing pre-calculated precautionary limits. Finally, computes quota rescaled , termed here eco . Such methodology incorporates both detailed population reconstructions broader perspective modeling, fits into existing schemes. The advocated method arisen work on EBFM in international fisheries systems: (1) Atlantic menhaden United States (2) multi species Irish Sea, Celtic Seas ecoregion. These exercises were aimed at different needs, but arrived process adjusting used within current approach limitations, it represents step EBFM, which can be adapted range objectives applied systems.

Transnational companies have substantive impacts on nature: a hallmark of living in the Anthropocene. Understanding these through company provision information is precursor to holding them accountable for nature outcomes. The effect increasing disclosures (of varying quality) predicated ‘information governance’, an approach that uses disclosure requirements drive behaviour. However, its efficacy not guaranteed. We argue three conditions are required before possibility shape outcomes, namely: (1) radical traceability links actions outcomes particular settings; (2) developing organizational routines, tools and approaches translate strategic intent on-the-ground behaviour; (3) mobilizing aligning financial actors with corporate ambitions. While key each conditions, limits must be taken into account it nested governance action, just reporting. This article part theme issue ‘Bringing decision-making’.
