Bioactive peptides, specific protein fragments with positive health effects, are gaining traction in drug development for advantages like enhanced penetration, low toxicity, and rapid clearance. This comprehensive review navigates the intricate landscape of peptide science, covering discovery to functional characterization. Beginning a peptidomic exploration natural sources, emphasizes search novel peptides. Extraction approaches, including enzymatic hydrolysis, microbial fermentation, specialized methods disulfide-linked extensively covered. Mass spectrometric analysis techniques data acquisition identification, such as liquid chromatography, capillary electrophoresis, untargeted analysis, bioinformatics, thoroughly outlined. The bioactivity incorporates various methodologies, from vitro assays silico techniques, advanced approaches phage display cell-based assays. also discusses structure–activity relationship context antimicrobial peptides (AMPs), ACE-inhibitory (ACEs), antioxidative (AOPs). Concluding key findings future research directions, this interdisciplinary serves reference, offering holistic understanding their potential therapeutic applications.

Abstract Scorpions are predatory arachnids whose venomous sting primarily affects people in tropical and subtropical regions. Most scorpion stings can only cause localized pain without severe envenomation. Less than one-third of the systemic envenoming possibly lead to death. About 350,000 Northern Africa recorded yearly, resulting about 810 deaths. In Eastern/Southern Africa, there 79,000 245 Farmers those living poverty-stricken areas among most vulnerable getting stung by scorpions. However, compared adults, children at greater risk Scorpion venom is made up complex mixtures dominated peptides proteins that confer its potency toxicity. These toxins have intra- interspecies variations associated with scorpion’s habitat, sex, diet, age. alter activity antivenoms used treat Thus, study proteome composition medically important venoms needs be scaled along their geographical distribution contributions envenomation Southern Africa. Recent epidemiological studies have indicated that exposure to particulate matter with an aerodynamic diameter of 2.5 μm or less in the ambient air (PM2.5) is significantly associated elevated risk developing Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and its progression. Scorpion venom heat-resistant synthetic peptide (SVHRSP) exhibits anti-inflammatory neuroprotective properties. However, exact ways which SVHRSP mitigates progression AD induced by PM2.5 are still unknown. Long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) plays a crucial role various biological processes. Necroptosis, form programmed cell death, has garnered considerable attention recent years. This study aims investigate whether Lnc Gm16410 neuronal necroptosis involved PM2.5-exacerbated mechanisms alleviating this process. Through establishment model mice vitro model, it was found could promote down-regulation Gm16410, thereby promoting AD. Behavioral tests showed alleviated cognitive impairment PM2.5-induced mice. WB, qRT-PCR, other molecular assays indicate regulates under via p38 MAPK pathway. potential regulator regulating alleviate exposure-induced necroptosis. These findings offer new insights into mechanism through accelerates AD, examined from perspective LncRNA. Furthermore, we targets for treatment prevention following investigating action
