Abstract As the main active compound of Glycyrrhiza glabra L., glabridin (GLD) has been shown to have multiple bioactivities, whereas clinical application GLD is restricted by its low water solubility. In this study, was encapsulated into a sulfobutylether‐β‐cyclodextrin (SBE‐β‐CD)‐based inclusion complex (SBE‐β‐CD/GLD) freeze‐drying method. The materials characterization, antibacterial activity, stimulated cellular behavior and in vivo full‐thickness diabetic wound healing ability hydrogels were assessed analyzed. successful encapsulation confirmed ultraviolet (UV) visible spectroscopy, Fourier transform infrared (FT‐IR), X‐ray diffractometer (XRD), scanning electron microscope (SEM), nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR). SBE‐β‐CD as an excipient significantly enhances solubility GLD, SBE‐β‐CD/GLD showed excellent biocompatibility on human vascular endothelial cells (HUVECs) erythrocytes. exerted pronounced activity Staphylococcus aureus Escherichia coli vitro. markedly enhanced antioxidant compared with free GLD. potently accelerates skin defects inhibiting inflammation. outcomes suggest that could be used promising drug delivery system for

Licorice (Glycyrrhiza spp.) has been a cornerstone of traditional Chinese and Japanese medicine. This systematic review meta-analysis aimed to evaluate the efficacy licorice formulations, alone or in combination with other herbs, on liver function enzymes patients primary disease. We systematically searched MEDLINE, Embase, Scopus, Web Science, Cochrane Library up April 2024. Randomized controlled trials (RCTs) comparing effects Glycyrrhiza spp. preparations versus placebo standard care controls were included. Standard methods used extract data appraise eligible studies. A total 15 RCTs, involving 1367 participants, included analysis. The studies varied widely geographical location, duration, used. significantly reduced alanine aminotransferase (ALT) by 15.63 U/L (95% CI: -25.08, -6.18; p = 0.001) aspartate (AST) 7.37 -13.13, -1.61; 0.01) compared control groups. Subgroup analyses revealed that purified glycyrrhizic acid compounds particularly effective, showing greater reductions ALT AST without significant heterogeneity. Although treatment did not impact gamma-glutamyl transferase bilirubin (TBIL) levels overall, specific licorice-herb show notable reduction TBIL. safety profile was consistent known side effects, predominantly mild related its mineralocorticoid effects. Despite heterogeneity potential language bias, findings suggest can enhance function. Further should standardize explore role multifaceted herbal formulations better understand hepatoprotective mechanisms.

A high-quality genome assembly is imperative to explore the evolutionary basis of characteristic attributes that define chemotype and provide essential resources for a molecular breeding strategy enhanced production medicinal metabolites. Here, using single-molecule high-fidelity (HiFi) sequencing reads, we report chromosome-scale Chinese licorice (Glycyrrhiza uralensis), widely used herbal natural medicine. The entire was achieved in eight chromosomes, with contig scaffold N50 as 36.02 60.2 Mb, respectively. With only 17 gaps half chromosomes having no or one gap, presented among best plant genomes date. Our results showed an advantage highly accurate long-read HiFi data assembling heterozygous including its complexed repeat content. Additionally, our analysis revealed G. uralensis experienced recent whole-genome duplication at approximately 59.02 million years ago post gamma (γ) triplication event, which contributed present features. metabolic gene cluster identified 355 clusters, included biosynthesis pathway glycyrrhizin. annotations resource improvement through discovery valuable genes engineering bioactive components understanding evolution specialized metabolites biosynthesis.

Abstract Background The source of ninjin'yoeito (NYT) is considered the ‘Formulary Bureau Taiping People's Welfare Pharmacy’, written around 1241–52 AD. NYT used to treat patients with chronic fatigue, malaise qi deficiency, and exhaustion all five parenchymatous viscera difficulty in recovering. Key Findings formula consists 12 crude drugs. extract for medical use covered by National Health Insurance system Japan convalescence after recovery from diseases, fatigue malaise, anorexia, perspiration during sleep, cold limbs, anemia. Studies have shown clinical effects NYT: treatment anemia, cancer support, frailty, cognitive dysfunction, apathy, fatigue/malaise, lung diseases. Preclinical studies support studies; activating ghrelin‐neuropeptide Y pathway‐mediated appetite‐enhancing effects, inhibiting muscle volume loss through Akt/mTOR hyperphosphorylation 4E‐BP1 FoxO1‐mediated Atrogin‐1, suppressing hypothalamic–pituitary–adrenal axis downregulating sympathetic‐adrenal‐medullary GABA neurons improving sociability, promoting skeletal atrophy activation PGC‐1α, hematopoiesis‐promoting increasing number immune cells immunocompromised models. incidence adverse events was reported as 3.09 or 2.03%. most significant are gastrointestinal disorders. Conclusion Recently, has been widely several symptoms conditions under System Japan. Clinical showed efficacy well long‐term support. pharmacological mechanisms supporting its also being reported.

Cassia angustifolia Vahl. is a medicinal plant known for its efficacy in treating various, including respiratory conditions and skin inflammation. It possesses antibacterial anticancer properties. This work investigated the immunomodulatory anti-inflammatory effects of C. angustifolia. The ethanol leaf extract was utilized to examine gene expression related angiogenesis cytokines RAW 264.7 macrophage cells. results demonstrated significant increase viability treated cells, accompanied by an improvement dose-dependent inhibition nitric oxide production. GC-MS analysis identified 11 active components within extract, each exhibiting distinct biological activities such as antioxidant, antitumor effects. Notable compounds include hexadecanoic acid, 2-pentadecanone, phthalic oxalic carbonic tricosane, undecanal many others. In conclusion, exhibits inhibiting production enhancing cytokines.
