A clear association between diabetes and cognitive impairment has been demonstrated in past studies, increasing the incidence of neurodegenerative diseases accelerating onset Alzheimer's disease (AD) other types dementia. Many hypothesized mechanisms leading to exist, mechanism insulin resistance demonstrated. Transnasal administration improves recall spatial memory healthy subjects addition verbal working memory, visuospatial delayed performance cognitively impaired patients. No safety concerns have identified retrospective studies intranasal insulin. This review aims assess potential as a treatment for related diabetes.
