The effects of initial conditions on the mixing layer in two-dimensional multimode stratified compressible Rayleigh–Taylor instability (RTI) are investigated through direct numerical simulations with five wave amplitudes (10−2 to 10−6) and numbers (1–30 121–150) at a high Atwood number 0.9.
