Cadmium (Cd) is a severe heavy metal pollutant globally. Zoysia japonica an important perennial warm-season turf grass that potentially plays role in phytoremediation Cd-polluted soil areas; however, the molecular mechanisms underlying its Cd stress response are unknown. To further investigate early gene pattern Z. under stress, plant leaves were harvested 0, 6, 12, and 24 h after (400 μM CdCl2) treatment used for time-course RNA-sequencing analysis. Twelve cDNA libraries constructed sequenced, high-quality data obtained, whose mapped rates all higher than 94%, more 601 million bp of sequence generated. A total 5321, 6526, 4016 differentially expressed genes identified treatment, respectively. 1660 at three time points, their expression profiles over elucidated. Based on analysis these genes, identified. Specific participating glutathione metabolism, hormone signal transduction, members protein processing endoplasmic reticulum, transporter proteins, transcription factors, carbohydrate metabolism pathways analyzed detail. These may contribute to improvement tolerance japonica. In addition, some candidate highlighted future studies resistance other plants. Our results illustrate provide new understanding Zosia Gramineae species.

Heavy metals in soil can inflict direct damage on plants growing within it, adversely affecting their growth height, root development, leaf area, and other physiological traits. To counteract the toxic impacts of heavy plant mitigate metal stress through mechanisms such as chelation, vacuolar compartmentalization, regulation transporters, enhancement antioxidant functions. WRKY transcription factors (TFs) play a crucial role development well responses to both biotic abiotic stresses; notably, is classified an stressor. An increasing number studies have highlighted significant proteins regulating across various levels. Upon entry ions into cells, production reactive oxygen species (ROS) triggered, leading phosphorylation activation TFs MAPK cascade signaling. Activated then modulate processes by upregulating or downregulating expression downstream genes confer tolerance plants. This review provides overview research advancements regarding ion stress—including cadmium (Cd), arsenic (As), copper (Cu)—and aluminum (Al) toxicity.

Cadmium (Cd), present in agricultural soil, poses a substantial threat to public health through the food chain, adversely affecting crops and yield. This study examined role of silicon (Si) alleviating Cd stress maize (Zea mays L.). Germinated uniform seedlings were transplanted into 20 L pots filled with low-concentration nutrient solution. At three fully expanded leaves stage (21 days after transplanting), plants treated Si (1000 μΜ as K2SO3) (10 μM CdCl2). Plants assessed 0, 1, 28 treatments. The results demonstrate that application leads reduction concentration content shoot tissue. Additionally, treatment positively influences activity antioxidant enzymes (peroxidase, superoxidase dismutase, catalase) plant hormones (abscisic acid, gibberellic salicylic acid) leaves. Furthermore, enhances growth, increases levels substances, improves gas exchange parameters, boosts chlorophyll content, fluorescence. Weighted gene co-expression network analysis (WGCNA) identification transcription factors (TFs) structural genes among differentially expressed (DEGs) reveal physiological correlations enriched signaling pathways, particularly those related metabolism biosynthesis. actively modulates formation metabolites such arginine proline, starch sucrose, well biosynthetic pathways for secondary like benzoxazinoid carotenoid. exerts regulatory influence over MAPK pathway hormone signal transduction subjected stress. These findings unveil molecular mechanisms underpinning alleviation Cd-induced due application. Consequently, not only mitigates but also reduces risk entering chain.
