This study aims to investigate the impact of geographical origin on metabolite composition and bioactivity Thesium chinense Turcz. (TCT), a member Apiaceae family renowned for its wide range pharmacological properties, including antioxidant, antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory effects. In this study, we investigated whole plants TCT from different regions in China, aiming explore variation TCT. A non-targeted metabolomics approach was employed using ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography combined with quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry (UPLC-Q-TOF-MS). Principal component analysis (PCA) partial least squares discriminant (PLS-DA) were utilized identify differentiate profiles. We bioactivity, antioxidant activity, total flavonoid content (TFC), characteristic compounds sourced regions. further metabolic differences quality characteristics various origins. PCA PLS-DA analyses indicated that samples origins could be clearly distinguished. The revealed 54 differential metabolites, predominantly flavonoids alkaloids. KEGG pathway significant variations biosynthesis pathways flavanols among samples. Anhui province exhibited highest TFC strongest activities, while Jilin showed lowest. strong correlation observed between origins, suggesting is significantly influenced by provenance. Additionally, activities validated, showing predictive relationship TFC. research highlights potential discerning subtleties plant metabolomes, contributing advancement traditional Chinese medicine integration into modern healthcare practices.

Heavy metal pollution, especially arsenic toxicity, significantly impairs plant growth and development. Phenolic acids, known for their antioxidant properties involvement in stress signaling, are gaining increased attention as secondary metabolites with the potential to enhance resistance these stressors. This study aimed investigate effects of different concentrations syringic acid (SA1, 10 μM; SA2, 250 SA3, 500 μM) on growth, photosynthetic parameters, activity lettuce seedlings subjected (As, 100 μM). Arsenic reduced by 56.7%, water content 7.39%, osmotic 26.2% leaves compared control. Conversely, SA1 SA2 treatments mitigated adverse preserved balance plants. However, SA3 treatment led a decrease 18.9% 39.5% As+SA3 groups, respectively, indicating that high-dose SA adversely affected under both control conditions. Exogenous improved photosynthesis, whereas provided milder benefits did not reduce exposure. H2O2 47.3% lipid peroxidation 33.4% seedlings. effectively oxidative enhancing activities key enzymes, such superoxide dismutase (SOD) peroxidase (POX). Moreover, was successful maintaining glutathione (GSH) pool, primarily promoted ascorbate (AsA) regeneration. In conclusion, μM (SA1) identified optimal dose reducing supporting growth. Overall, findings underscore resilience heavy toxicity.

To investigate the anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties of sophoridine elucidate its mechanism action, we carried out both in vitro vivo experiments. Multiple bacterial strains were utilized to determine effective concentration antibacterial bactericidal assays. Subsequently, LPS-stimulated RAW264.7 cells E. coli-challenged BALB/c mice models employed evaluate production inflammatory cytokines. Our results showed that concentrations exceeding 5.12 mg/mL significantly inhibited cell viability, while 0.32 demonstrated optimal activity at 12 h. In coli-induced diarrheal mice, doses 15, 30, 60 mg/kg BW alleviated fecal occult blood exhibited effects by reducing level serum TNF-α, IL-1β, IL-6 levels, increasing IL-10, inhibiting leucocyte infiltration duodenum. Notably, 15 effectively decreased mRNA protein expression NF-κB p65. These findings suggest has promising potential for treatment diarrhea through mediated inhibition activation.
