Auxetic mechanical metamaterials (AMMs), as an exciting paradigm of metamaterials, have attracted increasing attention due to their interesting properties (e.g. negative Poisson's ratio), well the emergence advanced manufacturing technology 3D printing). Although various reviews on AMMs, structures, properties, and applications, existed, it still lacks a comprehensive review in terms methods. Herein, latest progress AMMs is extensively reviewed, including AMMs’ characteristics, methods, applications. In addition, current challenges future works are concluded discussed. This Review aims serve collection knowledge that supplies more understanding inspiration support further developments from perspective design manufacturing.
