Abstract Lasiodiplodia theobromae is a pathogenic fungus of more than 500 plant species, including avocado (Persea americana Mill.). The global production volume exceeded 911,000 metric tons in 2023 (Statista, 2024). Although detailed quantitative surveys yield losses caused by L. are not available for most avocado-producing regions, estimates indicate that this pathogen associated with stem-end rot disease 30–35% plots located the Department Antioquia Colombia (Ramírez-Gil et al., 2021), suggesting an enormous economic impact. As strongly depend on virulence isolates, reliable method determining their aggressiveness indispensable initiating control measures. In study, we compared progression external and internal necrosis aggressive isolate LA-VLCA3 inoculated into wounded middle parts stem onto excised apices. Irrespective inoculation method, necroses preceeded necroses. Spreading was significantly severe plants at apex mid-stem plants. We conclude causes stronger symptoms therefore better suited to compare isolates inoculation.

Heart rot disease, caused by Lasiodiplodia theobromae, is destructive for date palms and other woody plants. The disease was reported in several oases Egypt, the pathogen found association with infected trees suffering dieback rachis blight. Seven phylogenetically distinct fungal isolates were selected, their pathogenicity confirmed on palms. exhibited variable degrees of virulence inoculated leaves, which confirms variation. We examined antifungal effect microbial bioagents plant extracts heart disease. Trichoderma spp. gave moderate reduction pathogen’s linear growth (40 to 60%), whereas exudates ultimately ineffective. Bacillus isolates, except B. megaterium, more effective against spore germination, giving 80 90% average. Among extracts, garlic sap 98.67% followed artemisia (15.5%) camphor (24.8%). extraction methods greatly influenced efficiency each extract because exposure organic solvents significantly decreased all hot water negatively affected only. Successful further assayed suppression Both T. album harzianum comparable as commercial fungicides. In addition, treatment before or during inoculation most it enhanced expression defense-related enzymes. Our findings suggest biopesticides possess a dual role defense boosters

The rubber tree is an important economic in Thailand. Recently, the cultivation of trees Thailand has suffered from a novel leaf fall disease with diverse symptoms, including spot and blight, resulting severe defoliation. Fungi Lasiodiplodia genus, which causes trees, have not been reported Our research aimed to identify associated blight by examining morphological characteristics completing multi-gene sequence analysis pathogenicity test fulfill Koch’s postulates. internal transcribed spacer regions, translation elongation factor 1-α, β tubulin 2 were sequenced for analysis. In total, we recovered 14 isolates 6 those isolates. Of six pathogenetic isolates, LST001, LST002, LYT003, LSrt001, LSrt002 determined be chonburiensis, isolate LYL005 was L. theobromae. To best our knowledge, this first report chonburiensis theobromae being or elsewhere.
