Abstract Surface fouling is a major concern in health care, marine industry, and water purification plants. Polymeric coatings are traditionally utilized to reduce the attachment of foulants on surface, however low density thickness polymer brushes formed by surface initiated polymerization methods, exhaustion continuous exposure foulants, mechanical vulnerability harsh environments, limit antifouling performance these traditional coatings. Recent trends bioinspired polymeric combine properties super‐hydrophobic, highly hydrated lubricating polymers with micro‐ nano‐particles yield contact active, foulant releasable stimuli responsive materials superior performance. This review specifically highlights development next generation bioactive using nature as an inspiration discussion their benefits, over The obtained further evaluated for potential applications environment, delivery carriers, implants, biosensors, urinary catheters.
