A conventional hydrocyclones is a versatile equipment with high processing capacity and low maintenance cost. Currently, several studies aim to alter the typical structure of hydrocyclone in order modify its performance purpose. For this, filtering have emerged, where porous membrane replaces conic or cylindrical wall. During operation this equipment, addition traditionally observed streams (feed, underflow, overflow), there liquid stream resulting from filtration process, commonly referred as filtrate. This work proposes numerically investigate solid particle/liquid water separation process using commercial software Ansys CFX® 15.0. The proposed mathematical model for study considers three-dimensional, steady state turbulent flow, Eulerian–Eulerian approach Shear Stress Transport (SST) turbulence model. presents analyzes volume fraction, velocity, pressure fields, along flowlines velocity profiles. results indicate that effectively captures fluid dynamic behavior within hydrocyclone, highlighting higher pressures near concentration particles conical region, being more concentrated part hydrocyclone.
