Abstract
There
is
an
urgent
demand
for
substantial
reforms
in
the
governance
of
coastal
regions.
Recent
research
advocates
a
transformative
shift
European
system
towards
landscape
approach.
This
perspective,
informed
by
narrative
literature
review
on
and
governance,
explores
potential
value
drawing
Council
Europe
Landscape
Convention.
Our
results,
presented
form
manifesto,
underscore
need
to
move
beyond
political
administrative
boundaries
address
all
landscapes
as
socio-ecological
systems.
It
emphasises
necessity
State
recognise
them
public
common
good,
establishing
specific
arena
with
dedicated
actors
institutions.
The
manifesto
also
justice
through
knowledge
co
production,
urging
change

regional

Abstract
Context
Anthropogenic
landscape
change
is
an
important
driver
shaping
our
environment.
Historical
analysis
contributes
to
the
monitoring
and
understanding
of
these
processes.
Such
analyses
are
often
focused
on
specific
spatial
scales
single
research
methods,
thus
covering
only
limited
aspects

Objectives
Here,
we
aim
assess
potential
combining
historical
aerial
imagery
local
stakeholder
interviews
for
studies
using
a
standardized
mapping
interviewing
approach.
Methods
We
compared
six
agricultural
landscapes
across
Europe
mapped
land-cover
(starting
between
1930
1980,
depending
data
availability,
until
recent
years)
with
object-based
image
random
forest
classification.

history
(OHIs)
(almost)
retired
farmers.
Comparing
recorded
changes
from
both
approaches
