Hydrocarbon degrading bacteria produce biosurfactants, which facilitate the biodegradation process. This is first step towards getting access to interactions between bacteria's hydrophilic surface and hydrophobic of hydrocarbons. Due their amphipathic nature, biosurfactants this interaction. The focus study obtain hydrocarbon-degrading isolates evaluate biosurfactant activity in reducing water tension. Hydrocarbon-degrading were isolated from contaminated marine sediment samples consequently cultured on artificial seawater media with addition petroleum hydrocarbons as a carbon source. Surface tension reduction was measured using digital K20-EasyDyne tensiometer (KRÜSS: Hamburg, Germany). indicates that have reduced by 22.14 mN/m, data demonstrated production most effective third day exponential phase incubation. These studies demonstrate effectiveness agents solve problem oil pollution.
