Sustainability can be achieved by improving process efficiency, among other methods. In the case of heat supply systems for cities, one ways to increase efficiency fuel use, and thus reduce resource consumption greenhouse gas emissions, is generation electricity in process—the use cogeneration (CHP). The main goal this paper deliver methodology a step-by-step modernization local gas-fired heating plants through engines common central district systems. presented was applied on basis real system located north-western Poland (case study from Białogard). profitability simulated against background changing prices. financial environmental profit calculated. technical requirements that had met order adapt existing cooperation with new energy source were also presented. importance selecting return temperature water after emphasized. Based investment experience, we show installing engine improves company’s result 33% (calculated as difference between revenue sale cost only) less harmful environment, benefits, significantly reducing CO2 emissions 78%.

ABSTRACT A hybrid energy system, comprising a diesel engine as the prime mover, electrical and absorption chillers, backup boiler, multi‐effect distillation through thermal vapor compression (MED‐TVC) unit, has been utilized to meet requirements of residential complex. This study focuses on redesigning optimizing system enhance environmental conditions, reduce pollutants, minimize use fossil energy. The feasibility design renewable systems, including wind turbines (WTs), photovoltaic panels (PVs), flat plate collectors (FPCs), have examined. Genetic algorithm (GA) employed for optimization. employs 21 variables, with 24 variables chosen optimization alongside energies. total annual cost (TAC), encompassing investment, operation, pollution emission fines, objective function minimization. results indicate that WTs not cost‐effective, solar can system's performance in Bandar Abbas, Hormozgan province Iran. In case using combined value was 2.0472 × 10 6 $/year, when energies, became 1.6795 $/year. Thus, proposed combined‐renewable reduced by 17.96%.
