The goal of this research work was to investigate the improvement bio-oil issued from beechwood biomass through catalytic de-oxygenation. Pyrolysis conducted in an auger reactor and treatment performed a fluidized bed reactor. Lab-synthesized Fe-HZSM-5 catalysts with different iron concentrations were tested. BET specific surface area, BJH pore size distribution, FT-IR technologies used characterize catalysts. Thermogravimetric analysis measure amount coke deposited on after use. Gas chromatography coupled mass spectrometry (GC-MS), flame ionization detection (GC-FID), thermal conductivity (GC-TCD) identify quantify liquid gaseous products. pyrolysis temperature proved be most influential factor final It observed that 500 °C, vapor residence time 18 s, solid 2 min resulted maximum yield 53 wt.%. A high percentage oxygenated compounds, such as phenolic guaiacols, carboxylic acid group, present bio-oil. Catalytic promoted gas production at expense yield, however, composition strongly modified. These properties treated changed function Fe loading catalyst, 5%Fe-HZSM-5 giving best performance. higher could have negative impact catalyst performance due increased formation.
