Abstract The father–child interaction deserves attention during the COVID‐19 epidemic. This study administrated Child Anger Questionnaire and SCL‐90 Symptom Checklist to collect primary data from 1862 fathers of Chinese young children outbreak, examined relation between children's anger their fathers' mental health, verified whether was moderated by gender or child number. results demonstrated that detection rate among 60.08%, scores factors were significantly lower than normal adult male norms those infant parents, had a significant effect on health. Gender number this relation. It is great significance strengthen health period public emergencies, promote harmonious interpersonal relationship fathers.

Prolonged stress exposure is associated with alterations in cortisol output. The COVID-19 pandemic represented a stressor for many, including children. However, high-quality caregiving environment may protect against psychological problems and possibly elevations cortisol.
