Marine food-reliant subsistence systems such as those in the African Middle Stone Age (MSA) were not thought to exist Europe until much later Mesolithic. Whether this apparent lag reflects taphonomic biases or behavioral distinctions between archaic and modern humans remains debated. Figueira Brava cave, Arrábida range (Portugal), provides an exceptionally well preserved record of Neandertal coastal resource exploitation on a comparable scale MSA dated ~86 106 thousand years ago. The breadth base-pine nuts, marine invertebrates, fish, birds mammals, tortoises, waterfowl, hoofed game-exceeds that regional early Holocene sites. Fisher-hunter-gatherer economies are preserve anatomically people; by Last Interglacial, they place across Old World appropriate settings.

Abstract The arid coasts of North Africa, extending over 4633 km from the Gulf Tunis to Nile Delta, are undergoing pronounced shoreline retreats and coastal floodings that reported as a consequence ongoing sea level rise resulting global warming. Of particular interest abnormal dynamics for deltaic sandy beaches, which severely impacted by abrupt decadal variabilities in both climatic anthropogenic drivers their increased vulnerability disturbances hazards. The precise genetic origins of the first Neolithic farming populations in Europe and Southwest Asia, as well processes timing their differentiation, remain largely unknown. Demogenomic modeling high-quality ancient genomes reveals that early farmers Anatolia emerged from a multiphase mixing Asian population with strongly bottlenecked western hunter-gatherer after last glacial maximum. Moreover, ancestors went through period extreme drift during westward range expansion, contributing highly to distinctiveness. This elucidates demographic at root transition leads spatial interpretation history Asia late Pleistocene Holocene.

Mesophotic habitats, hosting benthic assemblages totally unknown and unexpected in the early 2000s, are attracting an increasing interest from scientists. Realizing that many long living habitat forming species playing a unique pocket of biodiversity frame climate crisis, it is important to recognize potential mesophotic zone conservation strategies.
