Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is recognized as the leading cause of dementia, imposing a significant economic toll on society. Despite emergence novel therapeutic approaches for AD, their efficacy and safety mandates further validation through rigorous clinical trials. In this context, hypertension (HTN) has garnered considerable attention an amendable risk factor AD. Research indicates that during midlife associated with elevated AD in later years, influencing both onset progression disease. Nevertheless, relationship between stages life remains subject debate. Moreover, consequences blood pressure reduction cognitive function, along optimal pharmacological interventions thresholds hypertension, have emerged pivotal areas inquiry. This review synthesizes findings epidemiology, neuroimaging, biomarkers, effects antihypertensive medications to elucidate link performance. We particularly investigate how are related by plasma sulfide dysregulation, offering possible indicators future diagnosis therapy.

Ever since its presence was reported in the brain, nature and role of hydrogen sulfide (H2S) Central Nervous System (CNS) have changed. Consequently, H2S has been elected as third gas transmitter, along with carbon monoxide nitric oxide, a number studies focused on neuromodulatory protectant functions physiological conditions. The research highlighted many facets periphery CNS, double-faced compound, switching from protective to toxic depending concentration. In this review, we will focus bell-shaped an angiogenic factor molecule released by glial cells (mainly astrocytes) non-neuronal acting surrounding environment (paracrine) or releasing themselves (autocrine). Finally, discuss Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, paradigm neurodegenerative disease.

Sargassum invasion of Caribbean and American shorelines is a recurring environmental hazard. Potential health effects long-term chronic exposure to sargassum gaseous emissions, notably hydrogen sulfide (H2S), are overlooked. H2S plays an important role in neurotransmission involved generating transmitting respiratory rhythm. Central sleep apnea (CSA) has been attributed the depression centers. Evaluate sargassum-H2S on CSA. This study, set Caribbean, describes clinical polysomnographic characteristics individuals living and/or working areas impacted by strandings, comparison with non-exposed subjects. Environmental was estimated closest ground sensor. Multivariate linear regression applied analyze CSA changes according cumulative over time. Effects air pollution other toxic compounds (NH3) were also controlled. Among 685 study patients, 27 % areas. These observations, jointly previous studies from our group, constitute body evidence strongly supporting deleterious chronically low moderate
