Abstract We augment the existing knowledge on role of economic complexity in environment and sustainable development debate by examining effect environmental degradation (measured ecological footprint, CO 2 emissions, N O emissions greenhouse gas emissions) contingent income, using data from 35 OECD countries between 1998 2017. With fixed effects model estimator, we find that income facilitates to mitigate emissions. Also, fit a partial linear functional‐coefficient influences exert nonlinear leads an increase at lower levels but gradually dampens them as rises. Finally, applying Method Moments Quantile regression control for distributional heterogeneity, also mitigating is transmitted through across quantiles. The policy implications are discussed.

This study examines the dynamic relationships between digitalization, environmental tax revenues, and energy resource capacity within framework of Environmental Kuznets Curve (EKC), focusing on their combined impact quality. It employs a cross-sectional augmented autoregressive distributed lag (CS-ARDL) approach, an advanced technique for complex panel data that is specifically designed to address issues dependence slope heterogeneity inherent in analysis. The research covers 88 countries, including both low- middle-income countries (LMICs) high-income (HICs), understand how as driving force Fourth Industrial Revolution, interacts with taxation management affect greenhouse gas emissions. results reveal distinct effects taxes quality, marked differences LMICs HICs. In HICs, technological progress, especially information communication technology (ICT), found contribute significantly For LMICs, are less evident, findings suggest need tailored strategies policy management. By providing empirical evidence differential impacts digitalization policies different economic contexts, this enriches economics discourse. highlights frameworks specific contexts effectively balance growth sustainable development goals, thereby insightful implications achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
