ABSTRACTDue
to
increasing
geopolitical
tensions
and
disruption
of
gas
supplies,
European
countries
have
been
looking
for
alternatives
electricity
generation
(EG).
As
part
this
process,
one
the
most
important
goals
long-term
sustainability
is
ensure
carbon
neutrality.
Therefore,
study
analyzes
time,
frequency,
quantile-based
impacts
EG
from
different
sources
(i.e.,
renewable,
nuclear,
fossil
fuels)
on
neutrality,
focusing
four
leading
countries.
The
applies
wavelet
transform
coherence
(WC),
quantile-on-quantile
regression
(QQ),
Granger
causality
in
quantiles
(GQ)
high-frequency
daily
data
between
January
2,
2019
March
10,
2023.
Results
show
that
(i)
there
a
strong
time
frequency
dependence
CO2
emissions
across
countries,
while
results
vary
by
countries;
(ii)
renewable
dampens
emissions.
At
higher
quantiles,
share
lowers
Germany
Spain,
they
increase
France;
(iii)
nuclear
beneficial
only
United
Kingdom.
(iv)
Fossil
increases
all
Excessive
leads
more
at
quantiles;
(v)
time-,
frequency-,
quantile-,
country-,
source-dependent

These
emissions
have
been
growing
over
the
years,
thus,
making
them
predicament
reckoned
with.
Eradicating
such
has
not
easy
because
finding
an
optimal
determinant
achieved
by
scholars;
however,
foreign
direct
investment
inflows
are
known
play
role
in
varying
instances.
Therefore,
analyze
impact
that
on
emissions,
this
study
employs
data
from
41
African
countries
2005
2019
and
aims
assess
how
other
variables
influence
levels.
Moreover,
tests
validity
pollution
haven

hypotheses
employed
as
its
two
main
objectives.
After

pooled
least
squares,
