Metal vanadates are a developing group of semiconducting metal oxide materials that gaining increasing attention due to their great redox potential, effective separation photogenerated electron–hole pairs, and tunability structural physicochemical properties. Their rational design as photocatalysts can find use in various applications, including energy conversion/storage environmental remediation. In particular, one the viable ways address energy-related issues be through sustainable production hydrogen (H2), clean fuel produced by photocatalysis using vanadates. However, rapid recombination pairs limits practical photocatalysts, thus, many efforts have been devoted optimizing enhance efficiency. Herein, we provide comprehensive review deals with recent development strategies (Ni, Fe, Zn, Ag, In, Bi, rare earth, etc.) working mechanisms. synthesis, doping, cocatalyst loading, heterojunction creation, carbon loading also reviewed for photocatalytic H2 production.
