This manuscript investigates the interplay between energy dynamics, economic growth, and environmental sustainability, offering a comprehensive analysis of Türkiye's long-term ecological trends. In this sense, research elaborates long-run linkage among natural gas import, usage, trade openness, urbanization footprint (EF) by implementing Johansen cointegration test, fully modified ordinary least squares (FMOLS) analysis, nonlinear distributed lag autoregressive model (NARDL) model, wavelet analyses from 1980 to 2022 for Türkiye. Furthermore, when contributions novelties paper existing academic literature are considered, time series models comprehending FMOLS NARDL point out relationship EF, which is confirming Environmental Kuznets Curve hypothesis Türkiye in short term. Considering coefficients 1% increases gross domestic product EF 0.1972% increase import 0.0369% as negatively. addition, according it should be stated that use 0.7600%. When all remaining independent variables examined deeply thoroughly, there positive effect them. Empirical findings reveal imports ( p = .0428) consumption < .0001) major contributors degradation. Conversely, .3999) demonstrates potential mitigating pressure long The study highlights need transitioning renewable energy, enhancing efficiency, adopting sustainable urban development practices. These emphasize importance aligning growth with sustainability through targeted policy interventions. Unlike previous studies predominantly concentrate on CO 2 emissions, dissimilarly overlooked effects imports. insights not only expand understanding dynamics but also challenge common perception an eco-friendly source. To sum up, includes empirical results patronizes necessity transition resources cleaner technologies mitigate costs.
