Enhancing access to clean electricity with green finance and natural resources rent – the case of sub-Saharan African rural areas

Purpose In the sub-Saharan African (SSA) countries, energy poverty (EP) is a serious problem, especially in rural areas where clean cooking electricity (CEA) scarce. Therefore, there need to examine how CEA improved this region. Thus, research aims cover gap and provide major policies that can be adopted Design/methodology/approach This study looks into different approaches improve access communities, as well complex issues related EP. one of first studies financial development (FD), natural resources rents (NRR) green finance (GF) used promote SSA countries. The annual data 43 countries for period 2000–2021 Method Moments Quantile Regression (MMQR) analysis purposes. Findings results show NRR FD are fundamental fostering countries’ areas. these factors essential eradicating resource bless theory thus supported, while curse opposed. GF does not significantly areas, though it presents positive influence because coefficients results. Economic growth (EG) reduces CEA. Does energy poverty affect subjective well-being? Evidence from a cross-country analysis

Although energy poverty has been confirmed to degrade the environment and cause health issues, studies have seldom focused on relationship between subjective well-being (SWB) at a global level. Therefore, we investigate effects of SWB using quantile regression model panel autoregressive distributed lag based data 56 countries from 2005 2019. The results indicate that magnitude significantly vary across with different income levels. Lower middle-income highest levels poverty, while high-income lowest Energy reduces all groups, but lower are more affected than countries. Specifically, impact is approximately 2.8 times Additionally, long-term greater its short-term impact. efforts address urgently required. The Role of Natural Resource Wealth and National-Level Economic Forces in Energy Poverty Intensity in African Economies

Despite the overwhelming natural resource endowments and economic progression of Africa, continent happens to be world’s poorest energy source in terms availability, affordability, accessibility for basic human needs. Consequently, this paper examined contributions rents homogenous factors poverty intensity 26 African countries between 1990 2023. Methodologically, method moments quantile regression approach was employed deriving study’s main inferences. Also, dynamic common correlated estimation technique applied robustness. Empirically, demonstrated that economies with relatively high levels intensity, have a weak effect propelling former. However, are more important exacerbate moderate severity than those low intensity.
