This document presents a tutorial regarding the use of PV-STATCOMs for dynamic active and reactive power compensation in AC distribution networks. The main idea is to guide reader from classical flow formulation networks complex domain multi-period problem using optimization tools available Julia programming software. as allows considering different factors, i.e., they can work PV generation plant with unitary factor, purely compensator (capacitive or inductive), variable factor. software was selected environment due its excellent performance terms interface specialized solvers nonlinear problems domain, which helps introduce some concepts efficient operation while focusing on mathematical model instead solution technique. Numerical results confirm that proposed approach, uses Ipopt solver, yields numerical solutions comparison methodologies recently reported scientific literature. A version IEEE 33-bus grid adapted optimal studies employed test feeder. All were obtained Julia, help JuMP solver.

This paper addresses the problem regarding optimal placement and sizing of distribution static synchronous compensators (D-STATCOMs) in electrical networks via a stochastic mixed-integer convex (SMIC) model complex domain. The proposed employs convexification technique based on relaxation hyperbolic constraints, transforming nonlinear programming into one. nature renewable energy demand is taken account multiple scenarios with three different levels generation demand. SMIC adds power transfer losses D-STATOMs order to size them adequately. Two objectives are contemplated aim minimizing annual installation operating costs, which makes it multi-objective. Three simulation cases demonstrate effectiveness compared solvers General Algebraic Modeling System. results show that achieves global optimum, reducing costs by 29.25, 60.89, 52.54% for modified IEEE 33-, 69-, 85-bus test systems, respectively.

The problem regarding the optimal integration of efficient reactive power compensation in radial and meshed distribution networks using fixed-step capacitor banks static compensators (D-STATCOMs) is addressed this research paper by proposing a master–slave optimization methodology. Radial topologies are considered for grid structure while including variable active demand curves. An economic analysis performed, considering net present value plan, as well costs energy losses banks’ acquisition, installation, operation. In case D-STATCOMs, an annualized presented. master stage, discrete version generalized normal (GNDO) algorithm selects nodes sizes banks. slave successive approximations flow approach implemented. Numerical results IEEE 33-bus (with both topologies) 85-bus configuration) demonstrated proposed optimization’s effectiveness minimizing project’s expected planning period five years. Moreover, simulation 69-bus under peak operation conditions showed that GNDO excellent technique to solve studied when compared combinatorial exact methods. addition, numerical validations D-STATCOMs confirmed robustness addressing problems associated with medium-voltage systems.

The Unified Power Quality Conditioner (UPQC), composed of both parallel active filters (PAF) and series (SAF), recognized as a crucial device for enhancing the overall power quality system. In context, different control methods are employed to evaluate performance UPQC. This study aims explore four distinct techniques: dq, pq, Artificial Neural Network (ANN) Adaptive Neuro Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS) in hybrid combinations manage PAF SAF UPQC device. Four cases developed addressing three problems: harmonic distortion, voltage sag, swell these techniques. results revealed significant reduction Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) ANFIS-ANN method, achieving THD value 4.26 % load 0.08 source current after compensation comparison with other methods. Furthermore, this paper concludes by recommending most suitable combination techniques specific applications.
