ABSTRACT This study explores the influence of potassium permanganate (KMnO 4 ) as an additive in biodiesel–diesel mixture on combustion, performance, and emissions characteristics a diesel engine. Three fuel blends were prepared tested: pure diesel, 12% waste vegetable biodiesel, 88% (B12), with KMnO (PMB12). Experiments conducted single‐cylinder, water‐cooled, four‐stroke engine at 1500 rpm various load conditions. Results showed that addition enhanced physicochemical features blend. PMB12 exhibited highest in‐cylinder pressure low medium loads while heat release rate values found to be lowest. It also demonstrated shorter ignition delay higher mean gas temperature. Adding deteriorated brake‐specific consumption up 16% compared diesel. Brake thermal efficiency blend good obtaining same value medium, it was decreased by 8.6% for high load. Emission analysis revealed carbon dioxide increased but remained relatively stable across test fuels. Nitrogen oxides obtained 14%. Hydrocarbon varied load, B12 showing operations.
