Abstract The growing concern for environmental sustainability has sparked a shift towards electric vehicles as more environmentally friendly alternative to internal combustion engine (ICEVs). This review paper comprehensively incorporates wide range of Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) studies conduct detailed comparison the impact battery (BEVs) and (ICEV) in different regions under various scenarios. analysis encompasses recent research from years diverse locations, such USA, Spain, Poland, Germany, Czech Republic, China, Japan. LCA evaluations yield significant insights into global warming potential (GWP) represented by CO 2 equivalent emissions per vehicle kilometre over their lifespan. findings also emphasize that BEVs charged with renewable energy offer greater benefits than biofuel-driven cars. Furthermore, study future scenarios, widespread adoption energies, which could lead substantial reductions eq emissions. However, comparative reveals varying impacts regions, particularly highlighting importance electricity mix used charge BEV batteries. Overall, serves valuable contribution broader aim understanding transport drivetrain implications on environment. Integrating assessments can inform sustainable transportation policies practices.
