Abstract Desalination brine is a byproduct of the desalination process that poses significant environmental and economic challenges. However, it also presents an opportunity for resource recovery valorization. This mini review explores management valorization brine, focusing on metal recovery, CO 2 sequestration, energy generation. Key advancements in mining technologies, their feasibility, considerations are discussed. The potential integrating into circular economy model highlighted. It underscores urgency rethinking management, advocating integrated approaches balance water security with efficiency water-constrained world.
