In Dunaliella tertiolecta, a microalga renowned for its extraordinary tolerance to high salinity levels up 4.5 M NaCl, the mechanisms underlying stress response have largely remained mystery. groundbreaking discovery, this study identifies choline dehydrogenase enzyme, termed DtCHDH, capable of converting betaine aldehyde. Remarkably, is first identification such an enzyme not just in D. tertiolecta but across entire Chlorophyta. A 3D model DtCHDH was constructed, and molecular docking with performed, revealing potential binding site substrate. The heterologously expressed E. coli Rosetta (DE3) subsequently purified, achieving activity 672.2 U/mg. To elucidate role salt RNAi employed knock down gene expression. results indicated that Ri-12 strain exhibited compromised growth under both low conditions, along consistent expression content. Additionally, fatty acid analysis might also be FAPs catalyzing reactions decarboxylase activity. This only illuminates metabolism tertiolecta's adaptation novel target enhancing NaCl microalgae biotechnological applications.

Abstract Background and Aims This study investigates the potential of native elite rhizobial strains Rhizobium sp. ACO-34A, Sinorhizobium mexicanum ITTG-R7T, S. chiapasense ITTG-S70T to enhance tomato crop productivity under conventional open-field agricultural management. It evaluates their effects on yield, plant growth, nutrient uptake, rhizosphere bacterial community dynamics. Methods Tomato plants were inoculated with cultivation practices compared a control group treated chemical fertilizers. Agronomic biological parameters, content in tissue, diversity (alpha beta) assessed. Soil properties analyzed determine influence microbial performance. Results Inoculation Rhizobium ACO-34A resulted significant 2.6-fold increase yield chemically fertilized controls. Enhanced fruit size, height, stem width, dry weight also observed. Additionally, showed statistically reduction Fe Cu tissue. However, no substantial changes detected alpha or beta diversity, nor association between soil Conclusions The findings suggest that observed improvements are primarily due inoculation strains, particularly rather than characteristics. underscores as sustainable biotechnological tools boost support global agriculture.

Salt stress has become a major limiting factor of rice (Oryza sativa L.) yield worldwide. Appropriate nitrogen application contributes to improvement in the salt tolerance rice. Here, we show that nitrogen-use efficiency increases Rice varieties with different efficiencies were subjected stress; they stimulated 50, 100, and 150 mmol/L NaCl solution at seedling stage salinities 0.2, 0.4%, 0.6% reproductive growth stage. Compared nitrogen-inefficient varieties, nitrogen-efficient showed significant expression levels nitrogen-use-efficiency-related genes (TOND1 OsNPF6.1), content (5.1-12.1%), enzyme activities (11.7-36.4%) when under conditions. The better adaptation stress, as shown by decrease leaf-withering rate (4.7-10.3%), higher chlorophyll (3.8-9.7%) water contents (1.1-9.2%), root status (7.3-9.1%) found seedlings Analysis physiological indexes revealed accumulated osmotic adjustment substances (9.7-79.9%), lower ROS (23.1-190.8%) Na+ (15.9-97.5%) contents, stress-related Furthermore, salt-induced 1000-grain weight (2.1-6.2%), harvest index (1.4-4.9%), grain (2.8-4.1%) salinized soil. Conversely, metabolism statuses severe Our results suggest could improve transport efficiency; accordingly, their use can gene network, alleviating damage improving

The present study aimed to investigate the effects of different soil amendments coupled with nitrogen fertilizer on morpho-physiological characteristics and yield salt-tolerant rice under saline conditions. amendments, i.e., S1: zeolite amendment, S2: coconut coir S3: humic acid S0: no treatments, N1: urea, N2: slow-release N0: N fertilizer, were kept in main plots sub-plots, respectively, a split-plot design. variety 'Shuangliangyou 138' was exposed 0.3% salt irrigation water. results showed that during entire growth period, compared S0, S1 S3 treatments increased SPAD values by an average 6.3%and 5.5%, leaf area index 24.5% 19.8%, canopy interception rate 11.5% 4.1%, aboveground biomass 36.8% 13.9%, respectively. Moreover, conditions, tiller number per square meter, water potential, content, chlorophyll contents also improved urea than urea. promoted root vitality nutrient absorption as well enhanced activity antioxidant metabolism enzymes In sum, rational application could improve productivity saline-alkali land.

The plant hormone abscisic acid (ABA) regulates the response to environmental stress; therefore, ABA priming is an effective strategy for enhancing stress tolerance in rice. In this study, we investigated effects of 1 and 5 µM on biochemical physiological traits associated with seedling growth performance two rice cultivars exposed saline (100 mM NaCl) alkaline (15 Na2CO3) via root drenching. pretreatment effectively reduced damage seedlings by mitigating increases Na+/K+ ratio, membrane injury, contents Na+, malondialdehyde, hydrogen peroxide, superoxide anion radical, prevented reductions K+ total chlorophyll contents, ROS-related enzyme activities both under stresses. Rice had a stronger ability maintain ion homeostasis, eliminate ROS, induce changes endogenous levels upregulation OsHKT1;5, OsSOS1, OsNHX5, OsPOX1, OsCATA, OsNCED3, OsSalT, OsWsi18 downregulation OsRbohA than stress. saline–alkaline (SA)-sensitive cultivar demonstrated greater sensitivity effect that SA-tolerant conditions. These findings have implications adaptation SA soils.
