ABSTRACT The balance between the antagonistic traits, such as plant growth and disease resistance, is crucial for developing elite crop varieties. While roles of hormones in this are well established, regulatory function secondary metabolites remains largely unexplored. Here, we report that 5‐enolpyruvylshikimate‐3‐phosphate synthase (OsEPSPS), a key enzyme shikimate pathway, regulates both resistance. Silencing OsEPSPS gene rice compromises pathway but enhances nicotinate nicotinamide metabolism, resulting accumulations trigonelline mononucleotide (NMN). These boost resistance to blast by activating immune responses rather than inhibiting germination Magnaporthe oryzae . Furthermore, silencing conferring results less plant. Our findings highlight pivotal role coordinating
