Photovoltaic (PV) technology plays a crucial role in the transition towards low-carbon energy system, but potential-induced degradation (PID) phenomenon can significantly impact performance and lifespan of PV modules. PID occurs when high voltage potential difference exists between module ground, leading to ion migration formation conductive paths. This results reduced power output poses challenge for systems. Research development efforts have focused on use new materials, designs, mitigation strategies prevent or mitigate PID. Materials such as polymers, anti-reflective coatings, specialized coatings been developed, along with bypass diodes DC-DC converters.
