Energy conservation renovation of existing buildings is a crucial aspect sustainable energy development. This study examines the annex university sports training building in Guangzhou, highlighting conflict between maintaining landscape visibility and mitigating excessive solar radiation thermal conditions following without external shading. Specifically, analysis focuses on scenarios where building’s primary orientation aligns with region’s unfavorable orientation. To address this challenge, five facade optimization strategies are proposed, four which incorporate shading solutions: horizontal shading, vertical baffle inclined comprehensive system. Performance simulations were conducted using Ladybug Honeybee tools within Grasshopper platform to evaluate multi-objective visual performance under constraints. The findings demonstrate that an integrated system significantly influences both consumption performance. Notably, 46° scheme proves particularly effective Guangzhou context, successfully reducing radiation, improving indoor lighting quality, lowering consumption, while minimizing obstruction. These results provide valuable insights for developing energy-efficient similar region.
