Abstract Microplastic contamination in India has been extensively studied aquatic ecosystems, yet its implications for agricultural soils remain insufficiently addressed. This research paper bridges this gap by analyzing data from 73 studies published between 2020 and 2024, synthesizing findings on microplastic across diverse ecosystems assessing their potential impact land. While most focus microplastics beaches, rivers, lakes, ponds, only a limited number directly investigate soils, highlighting significant gap. Key sources identified include irrigation with polluted water, atmospheric deposition, industrial discharge, inadequate waste management, practices such as plastic mulch use. In Northern India, extensive networks sourcing water the Ganga, Yamuna, Sutlej rivers pose risks of infiltration into farmland. Western experiences high due to effluents, urban waste, practices. Southern Eastern coastal regions face marine estuarine pollution, potentially affecting soil crop health. Additionally, Northeastern shows threats microplastic-laden bodies deposition near lands. The review underscores urgent need standardized methodologies, comprehensive sampling, targeted pathways ecosystems. By identifying high-risk zones knowledge gaps, study provides foundation future aimed at mitigating growing threat pollution India’s sector. Addressing these challenges is crucial ensuring health, food security, environmental sustainability.

Abstract Microplastic (MPs) pollution has engulfed global aquatic systems, and the concerns about MPs translocation bioaccumulation in fish, crabs, other marine organisms are now an unpleasant truth. In past few years, freshwater particularly rivers, subsequently organisms, especially caught attention of researchers. Rivers provide livelihood to approximately 40% population through food potable water. Hence, assessment emerging contaminants like waterways associated fauna is crucial. This study assessed crab S. serrata across largest riverine system south India, Kaveri River. The were characterized by optical microscopy, field emission scanning electron microscopy‐energy dispersive X‐ray (FESEM–EDX) analysis for their number, shape, size, color. Polymer composition was analyzed using attenuated total reflectance Fourier‐transform infrared spectroscopy (ATR‐FTIR) Raman spectroscopy. Polypropylene (PP), polystyrene (PS), polyamide (PA), polyvinyl chloride (PVC) dominant plastic polymers intestine. Additionally, FE‐SEM revealed that have differential surface morphology with rough surfaces, porous structures, fissures, severe damage. Most comprised Na, Si, Mg, Cl, K, Ca, according EDX analyses. findings might insight into status at Kavery river could help formulating regulations reduction contamination rivers eventually protect environment human health. Practitioner Points first on identity properties crabs from River Mettur Dam. A simple cost‐effective approach extracting microplastics samples Dam, River, Salem District, Tamil Nadu, India. Microplastics detected ATR‐FTIR, FE‐SEM.

Amid the rapid development of modern society, widespread use plastic products has led to significant environmental issues, including accumulation non-degradable waste and extensive consumption non-renewable resources. Developing healable, recyclable, bio-based materials from abundant renewable resources using diverse dynamic interactions attracts increasing global attention. However, achieving a good balance between self-healing capacity mechanical performance, such as strength toughness, remains challenging. In our study, we address this challenge by developing new type network epoxidized soybean oil (ESO) poly(butylene adipate-co-terephthalate) (PBAT) with toughness. For synthetic strategy, thiol-epoxy click reaction was conducted functionalize ESO thiol hydroxyl groups. Subsequently, curing isocyanates generated thiourethane urethane bonds different bonding energies in networks reach trade-off features properties; amongst these, lower energy provide features, while higher ensure properties. The incorporation flexible PBAT segments form rational multi-phase structure crystalline domains further enhanced products. A typical sample, OTSO100-PBAT100, exhibited tensile 33.2 MPa an elongation at break 1238%, demonstrating healing desirable performance. This study provides promising solution contemporary challenges that combine repair It addresses specific gap materials, wide range applications.
