Abstract Ar I 419.8 nm/751.5 nm line intensity ratio is suggested as a measure of the electric field in atmospheric pressure dielectric barrier discharges (DBDs) argon. Using electron distribution function calculated from Boltzmann equation, impact excitation cross sections, quenching coefficients and other atomic data, theoretical dependencies several ratios constructed 3p 5 4p 5p argon lines on were calculated.
