Supported lipid bilayers (SLBs), formed via vesicle adsorption on highly curved silica surfaces, are widely used in biosensor applications and as models for cell membranes. However, SLB formation is often hindered convex structures with radii comparable to the vesicles. In this study, lightguiding semiconductor nanowires (NWs), engineered fluorescence signal enhancement, were compare kinetics of vertically oriented NWs planar surfaces. Time resolved microscopy single-molecule sensitivity revealed that while rates similar both surfaces lateral expansion was up three times faster than control. This accelerated attributed lower energy penalties when SLBs spread along cylindrical compared a surface, accompanied by driven merging excess lipids from vesicles accumulated NWs.

Typical wet-chemical methods for the preparation of silica nanowires use polyvinylpyrrolidone and n-pentanol. This study presents a polyethylene glycol-based emulsion template method synthesis SiO2 (SiO2NWs) in isopropanol. By systematically optimizing key parameters (type solvent, glycol molecular weight dosage, dosage sodium citrate, ammonium tetraethyl orthosilicate, incubation temperature time), SiO2NWs with diameters about 530 nm were obtained. Replacing enabled anisotropic growth isopropanol, overcoming dependency on traditional solvents like Scale-up experiments (10× volume) demonstrated robust reproducibility, yielding consistent morphology (~580 diameter). After calcination at 500 °C 1 h, did not change significantly.
