we

Cognitive
impairment
associated
with
schizophrenia
(CIAS)
represents
one
of
the
core
features
disorder
and
has
a
significant
impact
on
functional
rehabilitation
outcomes
people
living
spectrum
disorders
(SSD).
The
aim
this
critical
review
is
to
highlight
most
recent
evidence
effective
treatments
available
for
CIAS,
discuss
current
challenges
in
field,
present
future
perspectives
that
may
help
overcome
them.
Concerning
psychopharmacological
approaches,
among
indicated
strategies
management
prevention
CIAS
favor
second-generation
antipsychotic
medications
avoid
long-term
high-dose
anticholinergic
benzodiazepines.
Moreover,
non-pharmacological
approaches
such
as
cognitive
remediation
physical
exercise-based
programs
represent
evidence-based
interventions
treatment
have
shown
reliable
effectiveness
both
outcomes.
These
treatments,
however,
are
still
delivered
accessing
mental
health
services
diagnosis
an
uneven
manner,
even
high-income
countries.
Academic
clinical
partnership
collaboration,
well
advocacy
from
service
users,
families,
carers,
stakeholders'
organizations
could
reduce
bench
bedside
gap
CIAS.
Future
include
development
novel
pharmacological
agents
be
implementation
technologies
telemedicine
virtual
reality
delivery
improve
accessibility
engagement,
further
research
field
non-invasive
brain
stimulation.
