The present study focused on the Permian to Jurassic sequence in Northern Highlands area, NW Jordan. this area is thick and deeply buried, consisting mainly of carbonate intercalated with clastic shale. This integrated various datasets, including total organic carbon (TOC, wt%), Rock-Eval pyrolysis, visual kerogen examination, gross composition, lipid biomarkers, vitrinite reflectance (VRo%), bottom-hole temperature measurements. main aim was investigate source rock characteristics these strata regarding richness, type, depositional setting, thermal maturity, hydrocarbon generation timing. are poor fair rocks, primarily containing type (KT) III. They immature AJ-1 well over-mature NH-2 well. Upper Triassic rocks NH-1 marginally good well, highly mature terrestrial KT These early at peak oil window stage dominated by III II-III. have reached Biomarker-related ratios indicate that oils samples received input accumulated shallow marine environments under reducing conditions. composed mostly clay-rich lithologies evidence deposition hypersaline and/or stratified water columns. 1D basin models revealed from Early Cretaceous (~80 Ma) day ~130 Ma (Early Cretaceous) ~90 (Late late continuing time. present-day transformation ratio equals 77% suggesting expelled substantial volumes hydrocarbons To achieve future successful discoveries Jordan, accurate seismic studies further geochemical analyses recommended precisely define migration pathways.
