Abstract Society is facing many challenges, including, climate change, COVID, inequity and human population growth. Some researchers suggest that integration of Circular Economy (CE) Industry 4.0 (I4.0) concepts approaches can help us to make progress towards sustainable societies. Integrated implementation improve the design product–service systems focused on prevention reduction wastage materials, energy, health, ecosystems. The CE practices enable consumers return products after use reuse with more value. Will integrated adoption I4.0 society be sustainable? What known about change benefits CEs reduce energy resource usage? authors sought answer these questions, via a systematic bibliometric literature review, network analysis for logistics supply chain applications. review was performed by searching SCOPUS database CE. A total 165 articles were shortlisted in‐depth review. complimented analyses. provided insights into present future trends in related Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools CE's. Based findings, framework integrating CE, developed guide decision‐making will industrialists, integrate within logistics, efficiency, safety, product quality fossil‐carbon footprints.

Microplastics are widespread in freshwater environments, their biological effects and combined of other pollutants have attracted extensive attention. In this study, we investigated the adsorption properties heavy metals onto polystyrene (PS) microplastics as well bioavailability toxicity by hydroponic wheat seedlings experiment. Results showed that PS (0.5 µm, 100 mg/L) had no significant effect on growth, photosynthesis, reactive oxygen species (ROS) content. However, could adsorb copper cadmium, with a predominantly chemisorption. The accumulation cadmium reduced presence microplastics, which meant toxic might be mitigated. Compared single treatments, combination increased chlorophyll content, enhanced photosynthesis ROS. These findings suggest mitigating cadmium.

Current understanding of nano- and microplastic movement, propagation potential effects on biota in freshwater environments is developing rapidly. Still, there are significant disconnects the integration knowledge derived from laboratory field studies. This review synthesises current impacts studies combines it with more mechanistic insights Several discrepancies between studies, impacting progress process understanding, were identified including that most prevalent plastic morphologies found (fibres) not those used (particles). Solutions to overcome these disparities proposed aid comparability future For example, environmental sampling separation into its constituents encouraged when conducting map uptake preferences. In recommendations include performing toxicity systematically test possible factors affecting microplastics, morphology, chemical makeup (e.g., additives) size. Consideration should be given environmentally relevant exposure such as realistic medium ageing. Furthermore, based this comprehensive principal endpoints for each main trophic levels (microbes, primary producers, consumers secondary consumers) reported make comparable given.

Microplastics as vectors for contaminants in the environment is becoming a topic of public interest. have been found to actively adsorb heavy metals, per-fluorinated alkyl substances (PFAS), polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), polyaromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), pharmaceuticals and personal care products (PPCPs) polybrominated diethers (PBDs) onto their surface. Particular interest microplastics capacity antibiotics needs further attention due potential role this interaction plays on antibiotic resistance. Antibiotic sorption experiments documented literature, but data has not yet critically reviewed. This review aims comprehensively assess factors that affect microplastics. It recognised physico- chemical properties polymers, properties, solution all play crucial Weathering was increase by up 171%. An salinity decrease microplastics, some instances 100%. pH also substantial effect capacity, illustrating significance electrostatic interactions The need uniform experimental design when testing highlighted remove inconsistencies currently presented. Current literature examines link between resistance, however, studies are still required fully understand emerging global crisis.

Microplastics have become predominant contaminants, attracting much political and scientific attention. Despite the massively-increasing research on microplastics effects organisms, debate of whether environmental concentrations pose hazard risk continues. This study critically reviews published literatures organisms within context "dose". It provides substantial evidence common occurrence threshold hormesis dose responses numerous aquatic terrestrial to microplastics. finding along with accumulated indicating capacity for recovery suggests that linear-no-threshold model is biologically irrelevant should not serve as a default assessing risks. The literature does provide sufficient supporting general conclusion doses cause adverse individual organisms. Instead, are smaller than toxicological more likely occur in environment may even induce positive effects, although ecological implications these remain unknown. also shows low can reduce whereas high increase negative other pollutants. mechanisms explaining findings discussed, providing novel perspective evaluating risks environment.
