There has been a widespread international consensus to enhance the regulation of emerging chemicals in 21st century. The substantial implementation work conducted over past two decades established strong foundation for control across world. Nevertheless, distinct challenges confront countries and regions due ever-evolving diverse national conditions. China, as developing nation major consumer chemicals, is encountering particularly severe hurdles. This Perspective presents an overview encompassing historical progression, current circumstances, confronted by China with regard chemicals. central goal these efforts prioritize actively establish monitoring mechanism. Additionally, it necessary develop multistakeholder environmental risk prevention system. Ultimately, comprehensive green substitution practices active engagement governance initiatives will be required.

Microplastics pose a significant environmental threat, with potential implications for toxic chemical release, aquatic life endangerment, and human food chain contamination. In Asia, rapid economic growth coupled inadequate waste management has escalated plastic pollution in rivers, positioning them as focal points concern. Despite Asia's rivers being considered the most polluted plastics globally, scholarly attention to microplastics region's freshwater environments is recent development. This study undertakes systematic review of 228 articles map microplastic hotspots Asian systems synthesize current research trends within continent. Findings reveal concentration China Japan, primarily investigating riverine surface waters through net-based sampling methods. Polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP), polyethylene terephthalate (PET) emerge predominant types, frequently observed fibers or fragments. However, diversity methodologies reporting metrics complicates data synthesis, underscoring need standardized analytical frameworks facilitate comparative analysis. paper delineates distribution outlines prevailing challenges prospects contexts.

The degradation of mismanaged plastic waste in the environment results formation microplastics (MPs) and nanoplastics (NPs), which pose significant risks to ecosystems human health. These particles are pervasive, detected even remote regions, can enter food chain, accumulating organisms causing harm depending on factors such as particle load, exposure dose, presence co-contaminants. Detecting analyzing NMPs present unique challenges, particularly size decreases, making them increasingly difficult identify. Moreover, absence standardized protocols for their detection analysis further hinders comprehensive assessments environmental biological impacts. This review provides a detailed overview latest advancements technologies sampling, separation, measurement, quantification NMPs. It highlights promising approaches, supported by practical examples from recent studies, while critically addressing persistent challenges characterization, analysis. work examines cutting-edge developments nanotechnology-based detection, integrated spectro-microscopic techniques, AI-driven classification algorithms, offering solutions bridge gaps NMP research. By exploring state-of-the-art methodologies presenting future perspectives, this valuable insights improving capabilities at micro- nanoscale, enabling more effective across diverse contexts.

Microplastics (MPs) have been recognized as an environmental threat due to their persistence, ubiquity, and toxicity potential. Due small size, MPs are endowed with a large specific surface area, having the ability sorb accumulate other contaminants that co-exist them in aquatic environment it is case of pharmaceuticals. Antibiotics are used for therapeutic and prophylactic purposes in both human veterinary medicine as growth promoting agents farms aquaculture. They can accumulate environmental matrices the food chain, causing adverse effects humans animals including development of antibiotic resistance. This review aims to update discuss available data on residues, using bivalves biomonitoring organisms. The current research indicates that antibiotics’ presence has been investigated along European, American Asian coasts, with majority studies reported last. Several classes antibiotics have detected, a higher frequency detection macrolides, sulfonamides quinolones. highest concentration was instead tetracyclines collected North Adriatic Sea. Only oxytetracycline levels detected this latter site exceeded maximum residual limit established by competent authorities. Moreover, risk be derived from bivalve consumption, calculated considering concentrations residues analyzed studies, is actually negligible. Nevertheless, further supervisions needed order preserve environment pollution, prevent antimicrobial resistance reduce health seafood consumption.

Abstract With rapid advancements in technology, the evolution and demand for electronic/electric devices have drastically increased. The exponential increase use of technology to fulfill needs fast‐paced information era has led electronic electrical being discarded or disposed at a faster rate than past. This phenomenon resulted e‐waste becoming fastest‐growing form solid waste. E‐waste is classified as hazardous waste can be harmful environment health if not responsibly. Therefore, alternatives, such exporting, landfilling, recycling (from different economic, social, technical, environmental criteria), are interest minimize disposal this toxic into landfill sites. analytic hierarchy process approach was deployed evaluate prioritize alternatives processing systems United Arab Emirates context. obtained results indicate that highest priority among studied system. low economic awareness stakeholders with regard shows management system initiatives must expedited adhere best practices implemented nationally internationally.
