The coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic has led to dramatic changes in quality of life, bringing the forefront debate question planning and design pandemic-resilient cities. Using quasi-longitudinal survey data (via a social media campaign) geospatial from Greek cities, we evaluate health well-being during COVID-19 compared pre-COVID-19 period, then explore detail how specific built environment characteristics Athens Thessaloniki relate before COVID-19. Results suggest that overall health, life satisfaction, happiness, personal relationships leisure satisfaction with income, vacations all decreased COVID-19, while anxiety back pain increased role urban was found differ considerably for period pre-COVID-19. Proximity large parks, proximity numerous local facilities, lower neighborhood density, living further city center, larger dwelling were associated better outcomes Urban relevant policies cities adopt should carefully focus on mitigating implications critical issues such as quest sustainable development forms.

Despite the wealth of research on smart cities, there is a lack studies examining interlinkages between cities and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In other words, limited how implementing city solutions can lead to co-benefits and/or trade-offs for achieving SDGs. This systematic literature review was conducted fill this gap. There have recently been intensive efforts aimed at addressing the challenges of environmental degradation and climate change through applied innovative solutions AI, IoT, Big Data. Given synergistic potential these advanced technologies, their convergence is being embraced leveraged by smart cities in an attempt to make progress toward reaching targets sustainable development goals under what has termed "environmentally cities." This new paradigm urbanism represents a significant research gap itself. To fill this gap, study explores key trends driving factors environmentally maps thematic evolution. Further, it examines fragmentation, amalgamation, transition underlying models as well converging Data technologies solutions. It employs combines bibliometric analysis evidence synthesis methods. A total 2,574 documents were collected from Web Science database compartmentalized into three sub-periods: 1991-2015, 2016-2019, 2020-2021. The results show that are rapidly growing trend markedly escalated during second third periods-due acceleration digitalization decarbonization agendas-thanks COVID-19 rapid advancement data-driven technologies. also reveals that, while overall priority topics dynamic over time-some AI techniques sustainability areas received more attention than others. synthesized indicates increasing criticism fragmentation cities, widespread diffusion SDGs agenda, dominance ICT significantly impacted materialization thereby influencing landscape dynamics cities. suggests provides approaches tackling sustainability. COVID-19 shocked cities around the world and revealed vulnerability of urban lives functions. Most experienced a catastrophic disturbance that has lasted for long time. Planning plays critical role in responding efficiently to this crisis enabling rapid functional recovery post-disaster era. Cities have implemented digitalization initiatives programs are likely more capacity react appropriately. Specifically, digitalized could ensure well-being their residents maintain continuity This research aims analyze technology management last two decades provide appropriate policy recommendations dealing with pandemic. Systematic literature review subjective content analysis employed investigate effects on community making resilient past crises. study shows different technology-driven policies actions enable management, enhance well-being, increase resilience. Technology enhanced coping capacities by increasing participation social connectedness, enhancing physical mental health maintaining functionality education economic systems. These been achieved through various solutions technologies such as media, telehealth, tracking monitoring systems, sensors locational applications, teleworking etc. also used during pandemic sustain However, deployment might adverse exclusion, digital divide, privacy confidentiality violation, political bias misinformation dissemination, inefficient remote working education. It is suggested mitigate these side effects, policymakers should liberate process digitalization, accessibility services, literacy.

Abstract Existing empirical work has analysed the impacts of COVID‐19 on mortality, fertility and international migration. Less is known about ways in which pandemic influenced patterns internal Anecdotal reports mass migration from large cities to less populated areas have emerged, but lack data prevented empirically assessing this hypothesis. Drawing geographically granular administrative population register data, we aim analyse extent change across urban hierarchy Spain during 2020. Our results show a decline 2.5% number moves, particularly early stages pandemic, returning pre‐pandemic levels late Results also reveal unusually net losses core gains rural areas.
