This study investigated the relationship between essential plasma metals (Co, Cr, Cu, Mn, Mo, Se, Zn) and telomere length in 2,194 Chinese adults aged ≥ 30 years. Metal concentrations were measured using ICP-MS, leukocyte relative (rTL) was assessed by qPCR. In elderly, Cr Mn significantly positively correlated with rTL, while Zn, Cu showed negative correlations. 30–59 age group, overall metal mixture negatively associated rTL (estimate = -0.069, P 0.003), Zn as dominant contributor. 0.040, 0.031), main contributors. The findings highlight importance of maintaining adequate levels older adults, potential adverse impact on length.

Abstract Background Although several studies have found the relationship between essential elements and diabetes, about association of with diabetes diagnosed according to an oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) in a sex- age-specific manner were limited. To investigate linear nonlinear five including iron (Fe), copper (Cu), Zinc (Zn), magnesium (Mg), calcium (Ca) fasting plasma (FPG), 2-h postprandial (PPG), HbA1c evaluate heterogeneities these relationships. Methods A total 8392 community-dwelling adults recruited complete questionnaire undergo checkups anthropometric parameters serum levels metals (Fe, Cu, Zn, Mg, Ca). The multivariable logistic regression, restricted cubic spline (RCS) analysis, subgroup analysis applied find associations prevalence as well FPG, PPG, HbA1c. Results In regression Cu was positively associated while Mg significantly inversely correlated HbA1c, (all P < 0.001). RCS non-linear ( 0.001) found. stronger positive for interaction = 0.027) PPG 0.002) younger women. Conclusions These findings may lead more appropriate approaches supplementation people different ages sexes. However, prospective cohort experimental are needed probe possible mechanism diabetes.

Many metals are involved in the pathogenesis of diabetes, but most existing studies focused on single metals. The study mixtures represents real-life exposure scenarios and deserves attention. This aimed to explore potential relationship urinary copper (Cu), zinc (Zn), arsenic (As), selenium (Se), strontium (Sr) contents with fasting plasma glucose (FPG) levels 2766 participants. urine were determined by inductively coupled plasma–mass spectrometry. We used linear regression models Bayesian kernel machine (BKMR) evaluate association between FPG levels. In multiple regression, Zn (β = 0.434), Se 0.172), Sr −0.143) showed significant (all P < 0.05). BKMR model analysis that results metal consistent regression. mixture five had a positive over-all effect levels, (PIP 1.000) contributed Cu As negatively correlated women. interaction was observed participants aged ≥ 60 years old (Pinteraction 0.035). summary, our suggested associated Further needed confirm these findings clarify underlying mechanisms.

Antimony (Sb) poses a significant threat to human health due sharp increases in its exploitation and application globally, but few studies have explored the pathophysiological mechanisms of acute hepatotoxicity induced by Sb exposure. We established an vivo model comprehensively explore endogenous underlying liver injury short-term Adult female male Sprague-Dawley rats were orally administrated various concentrations potassium antimony tartrate for 28 days. After exposure, serum concentration, liver-to-body weight ratio, glucose levels significantly increased dose-dependent manner. Body gain biomarkers hepatic (e.g., total cholesterol, protein, alkaline phosphatase, aspartate aminotransferase/alanine aminotransferase ratio) decreased with increasing Through integrative non-targeted metabolome lipidome analyses, alanine, aspartate, glutamate metabolism; phosphatidylcholines; sphingomyelins; phosphatidylinositols most affected pathways exposed Sb. Additionally, correlation analysis showed that certain metabolites lipids deoxycholic acid, N-methylproline, palmitoylcarnitine, glycerophospholipids, sphingomyelins, glycerol) associated biomarkers, indicating metabolic remodeling may be involved apical hepatotoxicity. Our study demonstrated exposure induces hepatotoxicity, possibly through glycolipid metabolism disorder, providing important reference risks pollution.
