This study explores how the concept and research on water-energy-food (WEF) nexus has evolved over time. The uncovers key terms underpinning phenomenon, maps interlinkages between WEF topics, provides an overview of evolution nexus. We analyzed published academic literature from Scopus database performed both qualitative quantitative analyses using Natural Language Processing method. findings suggest that approach is increasingly evolving into integrative concept, been incorporating new topics time, resulting in different methods for research, with a focus interdisciplinary inter-sectoral analyses. Through five periods outlined, we have identified debate focused following predominant topics: i) Trend 1 (2012–2016) debates water management natural resource security, ii) 2 (2017–2018) linkages nexus, sustainable development goals green economy, iii) 3 (2019) governance policy integration, iv) 4 (2020) application scales, including regions, countries, watersheds, urban areas as well other components coupled to and, v) 5 (2021) climate change challenges.

Poor quality and scarcity of water are some the most relevant problems for policy-makers private sector, especially in face climate change. A systemic perspective is key to studying complex issues like management understanding how systems change response various inputs over time. This study aims create a generalized, highly synthetic, abstract model that can reproduce dynamics emerge from policies management. The characteristics this make it applicable independent specific local context. literature review modelling simulation, System Dynamics (SD), fuzzy set qualitative comparative analysis (fsQCA) approaches was performed, insights were gained recognize understand existing gaps. results then assessed using fsQCA investigate necessary sufficient conditions contribute shaping sustainable minimum common structure which highlights elements their interactions generic system proposed. Abstract The challenge of providing water, energy, and managing the environment is widely recognized as a significant barrier to global advancement in light increasing population. Based on projections, it anticipated that community will encounter crises pertaining energy foreseeable future. In this research, application hybrid renewable system thermal power plant has been assessed based approach analyzing link between environment. design solar assessment carbon balance during lifetime have conducted PVsyst 2022. Moreover, ReCipe environmental model used for assessing effect decrease emission ecosystem. findings research indicate replacement at least 2% nominal capacity fossil fuel with one, prevents 1340.37 tons dioxide yearly. This amount equals 371.25 m 3 reserve consumption 382.64 crude oil. results also showed addition preserving natural resources, cycle leads water demand reduction which 3751 supply underground sources. Due interests resources decreasing industry, within framework nexus approach, management by replacing using heat recovery technologies policies efficiency implications recommended.

The transition towards a 100% renewable energy system may be an opportunity to resolve the water-energy nexus. However, deployment of some technologies might impose additional strain on water ecosystems. An energy-system-wide analysis demand in Europe was performed for period 2015–2050 using LUT Energy System Transition model two scenarios: Area (with electricity interconnections) and Regions (without). For fossil-fuelled power plants, footprint 20 European regions decrease considerably until 2050, by 28.3% 'Area scenario' 24.2% 'Regions scenario'. total scenario increases 5 average 14%, from 7% (Balkan-West countries) 24% (Sweden). Further, Turkey, Norway Sweden have largest demands due commissioning new hydropower plants. Results indicate discussions sustainability scenarios should expanded include footprint.

The evaluation of the effects cultivated land protection policies (CLPP) is an important issue in China's food security and policy regulation. The Water-Energy-Food (WEF) nexus approach should be promoted as a tool for sustainable management of resources through the interconnection these three fundamental pillars.
